Dispatch from Amtrak Train 405

The Courant asked a number of the speakers for this weekend's event to write a little something about blogs for special Arts insert that they had available for attendees. Many of the speakers wrote disparagingly about blogs, using mnemonics like "bogs" and "blah." One ran under the headline "I Want My Space, Not MySpace." Rajiv Chandrasekaran, however, wrote about Iraqi blogs, saying they presented first-hand accounts of that war-torn country, unfiltered by the U.S. media. Here are the blogs he mentions:

We're passing through Windsor Locks on the train now, headed in to Hartford. It's raining this morning. No one gets on the train at Windsor Locks. The Sunday train is a little more expensive than the Saturday train. Yesterday, it was cheaper to take the train than it was to park at the hotel. That's not true today, but I'm still glad I'm on the train. The power did blip out a couple of times, which froze my laptop. But no permanent damage seems to have been done.
