So, I'm registered for two conferences in April. The first, on April 7, is the
New England News Forum conference in Lowell, Mass. It's called "The New(s) England Revolution" and its put on by the same new media types who did last summer's
Media Giraffe conference. It's kind of an inconvenient time -- the day before Easter -- but I enjoyed visiting Lowell
the last time I was there and I think there are opportunities to be had in keeping up with the new media thinking in Massachusetts. I like trying to think about the future of media, rather than gnashing teeth about the death of the newspaper.
The other conference is the Hartford Courant's
National Writer's Workshop on April 14 & 15. I met a guy who left the Courant at the same time I left the Advocate. He's working on a book now about a big tornado in St. Louis in the late 19th century. I'm hoping to catch up with him again at the conference. Plus, I'm psyched about the idea of taking the train to Hartford again! (It was such
an adventure last time.)
