From the Vault - Stand Tall

In some ways, this vid was a personal stand of mine. In the early days of the SGA fandom, Teyla's character was pretty widely dismissed. I will admit, it was quite some time before writers seemed like they knew what to do with her. It really wasn't until The Gift that she felt like a fleshed out character, and not just the device for Pegasus exposition and John's intended-love-interest-that-deflated. From the very beginning, though, there were little glimmers of Teyla that I loved, nuances of Rachel Lutrell's performance that caught my attention. She was such a dignified character, strong, reserved, and kind. I loved, for example, how gracioiusly she bore the suspicions of Bates and the others, or put up with the way Rodney would look right through her, like she was automatically stupid just because she lived in a tent.

The lyrics of the song fit Teyla's journey in Season One, and I think also her journey with the fans that year.
