This is sache8-- I started a new LJ a couple of months ago.
Hmmmn. It looks like when my paid account ran out that all the pictures in my gallery have been removed from all of my old posts. That's major suckage...
But here's a post in my blogger costuming that has a couple of photos of the costume. I only have the one Inara costume:
For the shirt I used Simplicity #3827 with a couple of tweaks (removing the center seam in the front, making the sleeves a little wider). For my personal taste, I also liked that it was more modest than what Inara actually wears, so if you want a more screen-accurate neckline, keep that in mind too.
For the skirt I used New Look #6854 and made it longer and tweaked a bit for the train. And added all the ruffles of course.
I didn't know how to sew when I started this, either. I had a friend teach me how to start with something basic (pajama pants) and then, honestly, I just kept practicing and practicing. I probably made five "test" shirts before I finally cut into my satin, but of course that was with all the alterations I was trying too.
