First day of vacation.

So clearly my daily Christmas music post thing dropped off like a... man, I suck at insta-similes. Anyway, at some point, between work-related stress and the frustrating inability to find the versions of things I wanted on YouTube (and too lazy to upload my own files of them), I just threw in the towel for the complete set of 25 songs.

However, this is one I've been sitting on until close to the end. It's one of the best 'original' Christmas songs written in recent years. I urge you, if you've never heard it before, to really make sure you listen to the words. The poetry is sublime, simple and profound. The metaphor of Christ as a rose is carried through in a perfect, consistent 'home run' piece of songwriting. My sister sang this a couple of years ago in church, and though I had heard it, I hadn't really listened to it until she sang it, so I don't want y'all to make my mistake. :-)

In other news, I have been supremely productive today. I cleaned the bathroom, ran errands, got lunch for my sister, kept the kids occupied while she wrapped up some loose ends, played dragons, built a Thomas the Tank lego track set, rocked Noelle to sleep singing every Christmas carol I could think of with her name in it (including one in an African language, but which language I can't remember), made the world's most beautiful vegetable tray for taking to Joy's tomorrow, helped my mom with her hair, watched one of my favorite eps of DS9 ("Chrysalis"), played my violin for a little while, talked Avatar:tLA and musicals with my brother, and exercised. Now... I'm not sure what I'm going to do. But really, all days should be so pleasant and full, don't you think? :-)
