Weekend away.

Coming up on the end of my second night at Ryke and Laura's. We've had a pretty good time. Yesterday I spent half the morning going on "quests" with her kids based on little maps that Arwen drew, featuring very cool landmarks such as "The Rocky Rocks that Block You" and adversaries such as "The Thing that Can't Be Killed When You Stab It". Later, I taught Laura and Ryke how to play Cities and Knights (last trip being devoted to basic Settlers of Catan) and Ryke won both games.

Today, we went to the Asian festival in Columbus and I got smoothies for the kids because it was so hot. We tried to watch kung fu, but that lasted about four seconds because it was so hot. Then we came home and played C&K some more and I just now finished writing chapter four of my theater novel overhaul. W00t!

Tonight, Laura and I are going to watch the second half of The Magical Legend of the Leprechauns which is a super cheesy NBC/Hallmark minseries from a few years back that I love to pieces. We watched the first half last night. As hilariously (but endearingly) bad as it is in places, Ryke declared it was already loads better than Twilight. Bwuahaha.

The kids have been singing "Do Re Mi" with varying degrees of lyric accuracy all weekend.
