Workshop

May 19, 2010 12:21

So at work today I'm participating in this all-day workshop on process improvement. Which isn't really as bad as it sounds. I'd still prefer to be a little more caught up on my inbox, but I think I wouldn't feel that pressure so strongly if it wasn't for the fact that after tomorrow I won't be back at work until Tuesday with quite a lot of work to get done for month-end. Still, so far the experience has reaffirmed something I kind of already knew about myself-- that I sometimes am too enamored with the process, and also that my anal perfectionism can put a serious damper on my efficiency.

In the meantime, I just watched the promo for the Chuck Season finale, and wow, does it look exciting! Laura, Jeana, don't watch-- you will be spoiled on some things.

Tonight I'm working late (two hours past the workshop) so that tomorrow I can leave early without having to take vacation time (so grateful for a boss who is okay with this sort of thing and not taking it for granted). My sister and I are driving to our grandmother's house in North Carolina to visit and take the great-grandkids, and she would prefer that we not be getting in at 2:00 a.m. with two children less than four ready to wake up in the 6:00 hour the next morning. And understandably so.

I finally bought an inflatable Goodyear blimp for Nolan from the gift shop, so that he can have a blimp to fly over the various race tracks he makes in the spirit of the movie "Cars" Can't wait to give it to him!

Aaaaan... that's all I've got for now. Heading out so I can swing by and tell Kerri the Firefly joke from this week's Big Bang Theory before resuming the workshop. ;-)
