I am creating an exquisite corpse in my journal.
It isn't as gross as you think, and I need your help.
An exquisite corpse is a kooky
Oulipo invention. I think. Well, anyway. The way it usually works is that you write a line of a poem and enjamb it, so that one word is on the next 'line'. Then, you fold the paper over the line, leaving the last word sticking out. Then, you pass it on to the next person. That person has to use your last word as the first word of their line. They do the same, putting one word on the next line and folding the paper over most of the line. Here's an example I did with my family over... some summer, sometime. It's color-coded, ooh.
A long time ago in a galaxy far
away from the water he ventured on, randomly attacking his
opposers competing for space in the garden are
aromatic, so exotically aromatic that it made me feel
faint dead away, with more melodrama
than the other man, he was forced to use Pythagorean
theorem and proof reminds me of youthful
days into nights and we laughed and laughed.
So, now I have to *somehow* translate this into the electronic world. So here's what we'll do.
Post a comment to this entry with the first part of your 'line,' with the word you're replying to bolded. Then, comment to that comment with your 'word'. Then, delete your FIRST comment. The 'word' will be left, and I will have the whole lines e-mailed to me. Do NOT reply to comments, reply to the POST.
*IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS ON HOW TO DO THIS (comment, delete your own comments), ASK BEFORE YOU DO IT.*
Since this is going to be CRAZY, I'm adding a couple more restrictions.
- If you see a person's full line before they delete it, let somebody else use their word
- Let at least 3 other people write a line after your line before you write another line.
- In the event two people use the same word (post close to the same time): a. If nobody has replied to either word, the first word will be taken & the second will be deleted. b. If somebody has kept the chain going, the second word will be taken & the first word will be deleted.
I'm starting this off in the comments section, because after that, I can't really participate. Good luck, and let's hope this works.
