WOOO!

Well...it appears as though my phone has been shut off, as it should be, but my DSL remains active. I figure I'd better write this before AT&T corrects their mistake.

Cairo was incredible.

Kenmont-Kenwood was better.

After the very last performance at the Catskill Mountains Renaissance Faire, Paragon Jousting recieved countless compliments and congratulations on a job well done, and I personally recieved quite a few compliments on my brutal, bloody death scene.

That made me very, very happy, of course, for I am but a lowly squire.

I'd like to add that I thought Seth performed at the best I'd seen him. Well done, Seth. Very well done, in fact.

Eliza, Dave, and Christina captured some awesome footage, Beorn and Carolyn kept the shows running perfectly, Mary sent us some top-quality special effects, and even Patric found ways to help out and have fun with the show.

And of course, Scott, Becca, and Frank rocked the house. Word up.

On Monday, we had a lot of downtime.

Mark and Becke left us, (they had been staying in our tent) and Frank would not be joining us for Kenmont-Kenwood. There was more than enough time for us to clean everything up, so we all went out to breakfast and Home Depot before striking camp. When we got back, there was even time enough for a couple riding lessons.

I taught Christina how to saddle and bridle Mister Mister, and Carolyn got her up on the horse and walking for the first time ever. Congratulations to Paragon's newest squire- that really is huge news, and I'm very proud of you.

There's big news from my lesson, too. Thanks to Eliza and Carolyn, I'm finally becoming comfortable with posting a trot, and I even learned how to sit a canter. That was....

...so much more progress than I could have hoped for in one lesson. Looks like my dream of riding at CTRF'06 may come true after all.

Now...

Kenmont-Kenwood was INTENSE.

When we got there, we unloaded the horses, and the counselors fed us.

Real, good food- which was nice.

Then, because it was a surprise for the campers, we had to be sneaky and fast with our setup. We all unloaded the equipment, and then Scott, Becca, Carolyn, Christina and I went to get the knights and horses ready while everyone else set the field.

Scott (on Apollo) and I went up to the KenMont camp, while Becca (on Mister Mister) rode up to the KenWood camp with Carolyn and Christina. Each knight squeezed in about a 15 second speech before fleeing at a canter from hundreds of screaming kids. The squires struggled valiantly to keep up with the horses and control the crowds on the way to the joust field.

The show began the second we reached the field. We condensed three shows (Gaming Joust, Crest & Baton, and Armored Joust) into one 20 minute performance, which went off without a hitch. It was the most fast-paced, energetic, INTENSE show I've EVER done. Everyone was perfect, everyone was on top of their game, everyone felt like an incredible, untouchable team.

The campers loved it, we loved it, and it was all over far too quickly for me.

This weekend opened a lot of doors for Paragon. We're performing at a very high level now, and people are really starting to take notice.

Mark says that being associated with Paragon is like being a "Ren Faire Rock Star."

Well...I certainly feel like a rock star. This is, without a doubt, the one thing I want to do for the rest of my life.

.I.LOVE.MY.JOB.
