Welp, I'm back at work, back to the Before Times, unless my country experiences a serious resurgence and we start shutting things down again.

Let me tell you, it's weeeeeeird.

We work in 1-2 people offices, and no one allowed to come inside an office they don't work in anymore, everyone just stands at the door to talk. Meeting are all over Zoom, but no one has headphones + mic so everyone just has all their meetings on speaker (office roommate and I basically have to alternate and not take any calls while the other is having a meeting lol).

My body is extremely weirded out and confused by having to sit here and work and eat on this weird schedule, instead of the schedule it was used to at home. I mean thank god I brought a snack to work.

Everything is WEIRD.

I don't know how I'll survive this week - I have a feeling either my back or my anemia will cause me to collapse one way or another - so all my energy is just going into Being Okay this week and not like, accomplishing anything outside of work.

But hey, you know, I checked today and I was away on six weeks of paid leave. That's absolutely fucking amazing, I am so privileged that I happened to be working for a public institution in this country during this global pandemic. I even have some vacation days left over, after this whole affair.

Consider that just as restrictions were announced, I was 3/4 of the way through an interviewing process for a different job, for a private company, where I would have made 250% of my current salary, but would absolutely have been fired during this crisis (I mean, I would have gone on unemployment, but that's not my full salary and without various benefits). Like, I had gone through 3 interviews successfully and only had the interview with the Big Boss left, the person who doesn't actually touch the day-to-day work and would likely have approved me because why wouldn't he.

Like, I was maybe 7-10 days from being offered a contract. And then restrictions hit and the company called me like "listen, we like you, but we'll talk to you after this is over, if it's still relevant for us and for you by then."

IDK if they'll ever get me back to me now - don't know if that job still exists, if they haven't filled internally or something - but it's been a pretty amazing stroke of luck, I think, that I stayed at my job and got the deal that I did. Not even working from home, just straight up 6 weeks of paid vacation at home.

Anyway, first day back at work after 6 weeks at home is absolutely BRUTAL, and this week is going to be utter hell, neither my brain nor my body are ready for this. But, deep breaths, focus on getting through this, eventually normalcy will resume right? Unless we backslide into another outbreak.
