Weekends are no longer my favorite part of the week. How sad is that. I tend to feel unwell on the weekends. I know that's as a result of all the extra iron - it may be giving me more energy but it's playing havoc with everything else. Saturdays are errand day but after I force myself to run errands, I'm exhausted. This weekend is no exception. Everything is harder than it should be. I know that's a function of work stress as well. I should have worked this weekend. Hard. I barely managed to get out of bed today. I am still incredibly sore from Thursday's workout.
My workouts this year, 2010, have been exceptional. I have made great strides in strength. Those workouts with Micah are about the only time that I have energy. I'm just wiped otherwise. But those two hours a week, I'm on point. It's been weird. Particularly since I've been battling weight. Like most emotional eaters, I'm using food to de-stress. Not smart. But I've gotten strong. Really strong. I have real muscles. It's pretty cool. It would be cooler if I could control the eating but one thing at a time. Having gastric bypass surgery doesn't eliminate your desire for unhealthy foods. In the first year it prevents you from eating them. But after that... Admittedly, there are some things I haven't had in two years. Pizza, fried food, fast food, potatoes, pasta. Other forms of simple carbs have made their way back. Brownies, for example.
I've watched some good television this year. Finally getting to my backlog of DVR before I completely run out of space. I'll be paring down what I watch, though. Dollhouse ends on Friday. The second season has been outstanding. Had they skipped the first season, they could have made the show into something cool but the sheer creepiness of the first season was a turnoff. It's still creepy but in a fascinatingly evil sort of way. Sanctuary finished up its season and that does it for me. While I liked this season more than the first one, it doesn't have enough of a point for me. I'm mostly through Flash Forward. It's fascinating. I don't know how they will keep up the momentum but I'm enjoying it. Fringe gets better every episode. Leverage, Castle and Burn Notice are terrific. I can't believe how much television I'm watching. The 4 episode teaser for V was appealing enough to continue when it returns. I'm not sure if I should be this excited about DVR. For years I watched nearly no television. Now...
I've been reading a lot. Not more than usual. Just a lot. Some good books, some that were just okay. Reading thrills me, though. I love getting lost in a good story. I know I should be writing and not just reading. While this weekend was mostly about library books, I've been reading books I own and that's been exciting. It means I can get rid of them. Last week I donated audiobooks to the library. This coming weekend will be a bag of books. I'm donating a bag at a time. I'm still going through my shelves and deciding. I did the cookbooks. I'm working through the non-signed hardcovers. I've also been trying to read more of my signed ALA books. I'm not going to ALA this year but I want to have a clear shelf when I do return in 2 years. Too many books, not enough time.
Haven't stitched a stitch this month. The project that I'm working on is fun but I haven't been in the mood. I'll take it to Florida at the end of February. I'll breeze through it at that point. Which will be great. I have a bunch of projects lined up. Another small one after this and then I'll start on a new Mirabilia project that will take me 4 years to complete. Or maybe I'll work on the afghan that I've had at the ready for the last decade or more.
I accepted the VP of Membership of the SLC Amex chapter of Toastmaster's. I don't have time but I really like the group and developing leadership skills is important. As I seek to figure out what I want to do, I think it's important that I try to do different things. It doesn't matter if I fail. I was not a success as the VP of Programming for the NE Chapter of RWA. That was a long time ago and past failures aren't a prediction of future success. It's a great team. We had a leadership meeting this week. Great ideas. I'm also on our Engagement team. That's way more time than I have to give right now but it should be fun also. The E-team is the group who incites fun and recognition within our two banks. However, with two banks it's double the work since they are separate groups. It's a great networking opportunity, however.
Didn't cook this weekend. In fact, I have to take out food from the freezer. Of course, that was the point of doing all that cooking. In another two weeks or so, it will be time to make all new stuff. I'll need to find interesting freezable recipes heavy on protein.
Onto the next project. Bedtime t-2 hours. Can I really get up at 4am tomorrow? Only time will tell.
