The last of the daily blogs for November

It's been interesting, blogging daily. Interesting for me, anyway. It was easier to discuss my daily foibles than post more substantive meanderings. I have some of those written, though, and will post them in December.

The weekend was a good one. Long, restorative, and not outrageously expensive. Though I did some mail order tonight that belies that. Did a little cooking today. Finally made the broccoli-cheese soup. Froze a bunch of portions. It was tasty and easy. Target sells Reduced Fat Velveeta blocks.

I didn't complete everything on my list for the weekend, but I did some things that were on other lists. Stitching went well. I broke down and pulled out the mistakes because they would have driven me crazy. I wish I would have time to stitch this week, but I don't see it happening. This is such a big project and I am so close and yet so very far from finishing it.

I should have hit the gym but my body still isn't speaking to me. I should have gotten a massage but that didn't happen either. Maybe next weekend. I want to try reflexology. I did cranial sacral once and it was interesting but I still prefer basic Swedish.

This week is the gym x3, book group, symphony and ends with the UT RWA luncheon on Saturday. Should be a fun week. If only I didn't have to work. It's amazing how real life keeps interfering!

Hooked up with more old friends on Facebook. That's been fun. In some ways it's a neat way to be connected. In others, I don't quite see the point, but I posted some pictures so that some of these people would remember what I never looked like. Also fun. I wish I could find more of my childhood friends. I'm thrilled to have connected with my Little Sister. It will give me a way to keep up with her.

Read a fabulous book. #134, The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows. Wow. From my Goodreads review: This book was incredible. Despite being about WWII, it is fun, uplifting and clever. Told in letters, the kind that we no longer write but haven't really replaced in email, it's about the power of words and the difference that books make in people's lives. It's also about people and small communities that came together despite the deprivations of war. It's about how the enemy isn't always the enemy. Sometimes they are just people doing the job they are assigned to do. And sometimes they are much more. Highly recommended! I laughed, I cried, I sighed. 5 stars. If there were more stars, this book would have earned it.

I think I'm going to clean some jewelry now. Silver tarnishes way too easily.

cross-stitch, books 2008, to-dos
