New Training Strategy

Disassociation does not mean letting things go; it means not having anything to let go.

Coach and I got very Buddhist during today's lesson. At one point, he was telling me to stop being so hard on myself, and I told him that that is a common misconception, because I let everything out, so then it is gone, and I don't have to think about it anymore. He responded by saying that his approach to fencing is to not have anything to let out. So, it's this new thing I'm trying, and so far, it works like a charm. It's about being focused and ready, but neither relaxed nor tense. I'm hoping it will help me evaluate bouts better and stop clenching my shoulder incessantly.
