Below is copied an email that I sent out this afternoon about Code Pink's Give Peace A Vote Campaign. I think it is at least one thing we can all do to promote peace. Please consider signing the pledge.
I don't normally send these things out, but I was particularly unnerved this morning by a brief mention in TIME Magazine of U.S. Navy warships being given a "Prepare to Deploy" order for Iran, effective October 1st. I haven't been able to find any other information about it, which prompted me to look back in on Code Pink: Women for Peace, an organization that I have considered joining in the past, but never quite got around to. I have decided that now is the time because deploying warships to Iran while we are still occupying Afghanistan and Iraq indicates a level of arrogance and stupidity of which even I thought the Bush Administration wasn't capable.
Which brings me to this email invitation. Code Pink has launched the Give Peace A Vote campaign, which asks people to commit to voting only for candidates who publicly call for a speedy withdrawal from Iraq and will keep us from engaging in future unjustified wars.
