I'm in a foreign situation, so the updates will show up when I get the chance. And I have the chance now, so now's an update.
Chillin' in San Francisco, our city by the bay; I'm here for the Game Developer's Conference. Will I find something that breathes new life into my deflating and dying respect for the video game industry? I doubt it, but since I spent almost 4 years to receive a 2 year degree that will pretty much ONLY be worthwhile for a job with video games, I figure it's worth a look-see. Plus, it's one extra week I don't have to be at home with my parents. That time-device is going to destruct soon enough as is.
Sorry...I just needed to let something meaningless and personal out. There is something so wonderfully interesting about he minutiae of daily life. Maybe only when it's other people's. Whatever. Here's why I decided to do an update.
Last night, I saw a very very strange film called Secretary. I don't know if any of you have seen it, but I do have a few things to say. My first thoughts were along the lines of "damn, these people gots some problems". But then I began to think that the movie was more about people connecting than how fucked up they are. Obviously, the relationship in the movie (I'm trying not to spoil it for any of you who haven't seen it) is "untraditional", but if you can sift out the superficialities, get to the bottom, the core of what's going on with these people, it really just seems an exaggeration (perhaps magnification would be a better word?) of any relationship.
As I write this out, I realize I don't have a fucking clue what I'm talking about. What I know about relationships I can probably tie to a single helium balloon and watch it float away in the summer sky. (That means not much, cause a single helium balloon can't lift that much mass) Maybe that's not what the movie was about at all. Maybe I'm just a teensy bit preoccupied with something that I've never been preoccupied with and it skews my focus. I don't fucking know. There's not much I know, these days, I'm finding. Anyway, I understand that Kate is rather enthralled with the movie, so maybe she'll be kind enough to give us her take.
