No really, I am. A huge, horrible event occurred in LA this weekend and I was blissfully unaware of the entire thing ( Read more... )

"Hey, can I see your law diploma? because last time I checked everyone who is on American soil is protected by US law. The US Constitution is the law of the LAND law of the legal residents or citizens."

Bush is president, Americans are not even protected by the Constitution.

"And it's extremely hard to justify when the LA Police Chief is on record as saying the police action was inappropriate and excessive."

First off, it's California, those people are whacked out to begin with. These rallies occured all over the US with no problems. Anytime any type of rally occurs in LA a riot breaks out. This isn't a citizen, non citizen thing, this is a californians are f'ed up thing.

And getting shot/killed/beat up is going to happen when you are a journalist trying to stand in the middle of madness. A riot equates to a war zone plain and simple, if you don't want to get dragged into the madness get the hell out of the middle of it, common sense. It's like the journalists who get shot in Iraq, i'm like dude if bullets are coming your way....MOVE!

*boggle*

A camera woman was beaten, meaning she was singled out. Shewasn't in the crossfire.

As for all this california stuff, it's all idiotic gibbering that makes me suspect you'll end your next post with "pull my finger, Beavis".

If you see the police coming towards you, and there is a crowd behind you, you are in the crossfire. I doubt very seriously the Police went 3 blocks away from what was going on just to beat a camerawoman.

Ok so it's not about breaking law. You're at fault if you just happen to be within reach and in eyesight. Thanks for explaining the protocols of riot control.
Press Passes give you some cachet and validity but all bets are off if you just happen to be near a baton wielding cop who suddenly thinks all actions are green-lighted.

I am not saying what LAPD did was right. Now had they just went off with no provocation my stance on this subject would be completely different. Again it's like in Iraq, a press pass doesn't stop someone's bullet, and this IS LAPD the most irrational Police force in the country.

This is LAPD, they were pissed off, and everyone knows leave when these guys start to go off. It's kinda like if you stand in the middle of the road when a car is coming, should I feel bad that you got hit?

A camera woman is there to record the events. She is the obvious target, because they don't want people to see what is happening. Imagine if the Rodney King tape never made it to the media. Nuff Said.
