I love my job. There's a board in our waiting room covered with pics of condoms and tiny little bottles of Astroglide. In half an hour I will be going to listen to a presentation about a study done on what people believe constitutes sex. You'd be surprised how many people, doctors included, don't think that oral sex is sex. Because things that are called sex aren't sex right? Don't you just love the fallacious reasoning behind that? Now while this is very funny it also causes problems for anyone trying to do prevention work. If you tell someone that they should use condoms during sex but they think oral sex isn't really sex then they won't use them for oral contact and hence we end up with people who have gonorrhea of the throat or syphilis chancres in their mouths. Lovely picture isn't it? But it happens. More than I care to think about.
