The Atomic Fursuiter

Last year I made a post about Project Gnome. I was amazed to learn that New Mexico has had 3 atomic blasts on its soil (or under it). Everyone knows about the world's first atomic blast at the Trinity Site, but very few people know about the other nuke tests that took place around the country outside of the Nevada Test Site. Neat! I never heard about those other sites.

I did visit the Trinity site back in...1993? That was long before I had any inkling of ever owning a fursuit.

How did you manage to get your fursuit past the army guys in fatigues carrying machine guns??

This was one "guerrilla" event where I definitely wanted prior permission. I contacted the public affairs person and started with the line, "This is probably the weirdest request you have ever received..." He laughed and agreed. They were thrilled when I showed up. I even had a Geiger counter run over me by folks showing samples of the radioactive glass (Trinitite) that can still be found on site.
