Thailand and Malaysia '10

Mar 01, 2010 13:52

Ok, just so that I dont piss people off - which I find that I do unintentionally when talking about awesome adventures, im going to paste a gchat convo that I had with cas, so it looks like this blog is simply a reply to a question.

1:18 PM Cassandra: How was your trip?
1:23 PM me: fantastic :D
What'd you get up to?
5 minutes
1:30 PM me: went through a river cave, millions of birds flew in covering the sky during dusk
went to a chinese village on the border of thailand and burma, got there via scooters through the highlands
1:31 PM went to a reggae festival in north thailand
took a train from far north to bangkok
bought a suit (properly fitted) in bangkok
1:32 PM went to the islands in the south, semi-isolated beach
found an awesome lagoon in the middle of the island
went on a snorkling tour, swam with plankton at night (that shit glows like you're casting a spell!)
took a bus to malaysia
1:33 PM spent 6 days in the cameron highlands, thick jungle terrain, saw the largest flower in the world (it lures insects by a rotting meat smell, then eats them)
climbed a few small hills/mountains there
1:34 PM went to KL
flew home
Cassandra: Shit
me: that's the quickest and easiest way of summing up what i did in my trip :P

I missed out the part about how I slipped on some extremely sharp rocks that I was climbing on in ton sai (thai beach) trying to get to yet another isolated beach during low tide. Ended up slicing myself up pretty badly, had to treat the wounds often. However, due to the humidity, it was difficult to keep bandaids on and the wounds werent closing... hence why I left shortly after for the highlands of malaysia, nice crisp dry air :P

all good now though :D no infection - most excellent adventure overall! which ended up being much cheaper, including airfares, than to stay stagnant in oz for a month (I moved out for the month, so didnt have to pay rent)
