I'm currently here listening to the Colbert Report (which was the only reason that I stayed up this late to begin with) Well, actually the Colbert Report is now over, which saddens me, though not nearly as much as I was saddened when I realized I'd missed half of his "the word" segment because that is my favortie part of the show. Though, thankfully this is not as amusing as the one he did about Jesus a while back or the one he did about the cat w/ bird flu...
That was a rather pointless ramble, so how about more pointless ramblings. Lyndsey has arranged a blind date for me on Saturday. Technically she and Heather will also be there, along w/ Lyndsey's boyfriend, his sister and her bf and another friend of theirs, plus the guy they want to hook me up with. I'm not against this concept (I'll encourge all my friends to try hooking me up with guys until I have a bf...lol). I have to admit a mild abount of worry now, though. I talked to her earlyier today at work and she mentioned where we were going, who all was going and how she new the guy (which she doesn't really...apparently he's the friend of her bf's sisters bf). OK, that could invoke mild worry, but there is more. I asked if she'd met him and she said yes, and whne I asked what he was like, and she said "Polite." Wow, that is not a ringing endorcement for a guy...hell I'm not even sure that is something I need in a guy...lol. so we shall see on Saturday.
Now for a random rant about Kroger. We have a new manager, something I knew would come eventually...we couldn't always have Brian who simply wasn't as strict as he could be. But this new woman is not to my liking at all...nor to the rest of the store for that matter. I had an evaluation a few days ago (apparently I'm supposed to have one every year but this is the first time I've ever had one and I've worked there over 5.5 years). Anyway during said evaluation she told me that she had cut the front end hours by 100hrs total and that we had been over using hours that we didn't need. Its nice to know that from her perch in the office or while wondering the store doing God knows what, she knows what its like on the front end trying to manage w/ the cut staff. Today one cashier didn't show..never a good thing, but in the past we've always been able to handle and to the point that we didn't miss them horrible as long as someone else agreed to say a bit later. So not the case today. I got someone to agree to stay later...the only one who could, my uscan cashier... This meant that from 8:30 until 10pm I had one register and the uscan open...Customers do not like this. And then the co-manager had the nerve to call down to me about a customer complaint saying that we needed to keep on the ball and have one of the desk people open another register when we get backed up, even though we had been doing that and had barely been able to stem the flow....hell at one point both me and the other desk person were on register and it was barely helping....so yes, I hate Kroger right now, and can't wait to find a real job...
