The atmosphere in the Tardis was tense as Jack helped the Doctor set the coordinates for Cambridge.
The wait was nearly unbearable.
“What has she been up too Jack?” the Doctor asked in a terse voice.
Jack shook his head. “As far as she has said, she’s working as a waitress and living with her cousin in Cambridge. “ He stood and crossed his arms. “She never really mentioned a social life.”
“Jackie said she had a new bloke” he mentioned casually, stepping back from the console and slipping his hands into his trouser pockets. The look in his eye belied the casualness of his actions.
“Never said a word to me” Jack responded, feeling a bit more then betrayed. Rose hadn’t trusted him enough to tell him about a new man in her life. “Perhaps it’s not that serious.” He added hopefully.
The Doctor regarded him for a long moment. “Jackie told me he was happy about the baby.”
“Ah,” Jack responded unsure. “Perhaps Jackie has more to tell us.” He pulled out his phone and dialed.
“Jack, what happened?” Jackie Tyler asked as she answered the phone.
“Jackie what do you know about this new bloke of Rose’s?” Jack asked
Jackie frowned. “He seemed nice enough. Very charming and well dressed. He’s a politician of some sort up there. Harry Saxon’s his name. Why what’s wrong?”
“We’re on our way there now. I’ll call you when we find something more out.” Jack hung up before she could protest. “Harry Saxon” Jack said to the Doctor.
“A cover name I’m sure.” The Doctor muttered under his breath as he stared at the monitor.
Using the Tardis’ computer, he had set it to scan for a being with two hearts. He was not altogether surprised when it turned up two of them in Cambridge. The Doctor had a feeling that whoever this was he was not going to be happy to see.

Harry shut Rose’s phone and slipped it into his pocket.
Instinct told Rose to run. Unfortunately, being full term pregnant slowed her down considerably. She turned the corner of the hall heading towards the door that led to the garden.
The Master easily caught up with her. Grabbing her by the back of hair, he pulled her up against him.
“Now we can’t have that” the Master purred in her ear. “I don’t believe you have seen the garden at night. Let me show you” he said pulling her through the remainder of the large house. It was nearly black outside and the chill of the air hit her as they went through the door.
Beyond the house she could see a large hill and a building sat on it.
“Y’know the Doctor, yeah?” Rose said pulling at the hand in her hair, as she stumbled forward.
“Oh we go way back” The Master replied, cryptically.
“Then you know he won’t like what you’re doing” Rose warned.
To her surprise the Master laughed. “Of course he won’t but that’s part of the fun!”
Digging her heels into the soft ground, she gritted her teeth against the pain and said, “The Doctor won’t let you get away with this. He’ll stop you!”
Jerking her head upright, his eyes flashed murderously at her. “It’s an old game, Rose. I try to kill him, he kills me. You could say we have some issues to work out.” His face broke into a smile, as he began to pull her up the hill again
The closer they got to the building the more Rose began to struggle. The hold on her hair was strong, so baring her teeth she instead sat down on the ground, as dead weight.
“Now really…this is no way to act” the Master admonished her. “Surely Jackie taught you better than that.” Pausing for a moment to reflect on that, he added, “perhaps not. Well, no good way to go about this” he said to himself, kneeling down beside her. “Might as well get right to it” he shot her a sickening smile.
Rose did her best to glare at him and pull at his fingers entwined in her hair. She gasped when his other hand wrapped around her throat and he began to squeeze.
“Now are you going to be a good girl and walk with me, or will I be carrying you?” he asked in a low voice.
“Not going with you,” Rose gasped as his hand tightened.
“Oh well suit yourself” the Master responded cheerfully, as his hand squeezed tighter.
Rose struggled against him, fighting a losing battle. As her vision began to fade out, she heard the loveliest sound in the universe.
The Tardis materialised behind them.
