White Clouds - Harry Potter

Clouds weren’t supposed to look like anything, and so she didn’t see anything. They were completely random assemblages of water molecules, and the better part of her knew that, had known that since the third grade. People who lay around and stared at clouds all day were perfectly insane.

Ginny pointed up lazily and traced figures- a rabbit, a top hat, a perfect circle. Hermione followed her raptly, watching as the shapes seemed to separate themselves from the rest of the sky.

She knew she wasn’t supposed to see anything in the clouds, but lying there on the grass, Hermione saw.

Speaker - House

“And here we have the superior vena cava,” the instructor says, bored, vaguely waving at something on the overhead.

“Bet you dinner I can say one sentence and distract him for the rest of the hour,” her TA, Greg, whispers to her, flashing his piercing blue eyes at her.

Lisa considers this. “You’re on.”

He raises his hand. “Is it really possible to punch through somebody’s chest and pull out their heart?” he asks in a loud voice. The professor narrows his eyes and proceeds to launch into a tirade about the media.

“I’ll pick you up,” he tells her, smirking.

Fish Sticks - DCU (JLA)

“Watchtower.”

“I have your package,” a woman’s muffled voice said.

Even though he knew there was no one coming, J’onn looked around before pressing the button. “The teleporter is open.”

A woman in a trench coat stepped into the Watchtower, peering around the room. “He’s not here, is he?”

J’onn shook his head. “You are sure these are the correct ones?” he asked nervously. In response, she tore away a corner of the brown paper wrapping, revealing a sailor in a cheery yellow raincoat.

J’onn sighed. “Thank you, Lois. You know Arthur would never let me hear the end of it.”

Snow - Firefly

“Now, I want everybody to be ready for this drop,” Mal said, watching his crew secret their various weapons. “Don’t need anything going wrong today. Want this to be clean.”

“Uh, Captain,” Wash started, over the comm.

“No time,” Mal told him, opening the barn door.

Jayne got three feet off the ship before yelping and hightailing it back inside.

“Oh, Gao yang zhong de gu yang," Mal swore. Somehow, his contact had failed to mention that the drop would be in a foot of snow. He banged his head against the bulkhead. “It’s official. The Verse hates me.”
