So some random guy on MySpace just sent me this message:
"I'm a big Beatles' fan. I know a lot about them, I think. I got pretty much everything they have released. Are you excited about the upcoming release of Help! on DVD and Mccartney Videos also? I can't wait. My favorite Beatles song is I'm so Tired. I love talking about music."
Uh... Ok? I mean, yeah the Beatles are fantastic but seriously? Is this what people on MySpace send out to people? At least it wasn't those creepy chongo guys who would send me messages calling me "Mami" and looked like they were emulating Daddy Yankee. THOSE guys were grotesque.
Now that we're on the topic of the Beatles, I don't think I posted my review on "Across the Universe" here. I'm also too lazy to hit back and check so if I already did, I apologize. That movie blew chunks. Sure some parts were good (I particularly liked the bowling alley part, even if it was a little banjo-ey) but 97% of it was just... overkill. Had it been in a two-minute music video format, I would have enjoyed it. As a two and a half hour film however, not so much. The acting was silly and that bridge from dialogue to song was really bad. You just sat there thinking "which song are they going to kill now?" I partly blame this on the affection most of us have for Beatles songs as it is. You already have these high expectations that are just destroyed when you watch it. I personally would find tango dancing army men fine through another medium. On the big screen, accompanied by "I want you (she's so heavy)" I wanted to gouge my eyes out.
Whatever. I want to buy shoes. Anyone wanna shoe shop with me?
