There was something shaking me, saying my name. Urging me to wake up.  But I didn’t want to.  I was warm.  And incredibly comfortable. Even though there was something not quite right about my pillow.  It wasn’t soft.  And it kept moving almost in time with my breathing.

I slowly opened my eyes and realized my head was resting on someone’s chest.  Reita. He gave a quiet sigh; the arm wrapped around me pulling me closer. As nice as this was, I couldn’t shake the feeling that something wasn’t right.  And then it hit me.  We had to get up and face those creepy girl-creatures.

Half sitting, I turned to find it was Aoi’s hand on my shoulder.  His voice that had woke me up. Uruha had already moved from Kai to Miyavi, urging both men to wake up. I carefully gave the man beside me a gentle nudge, saying his name along with it. Opening his eyes, he blinked sleepily. Turning his head my way, he flashed me a full smile.

“Hi there” he said, voice still gruff from sleep.  Oh, I definitely liked that.  His voice was much deeper than the others’.

“Ready?”

I shook my head. “Not really.  But I don’t think I have much choice, do I?”

He gave a soft laugh, finally sitting up. “No.  Not really.  This happens one way or another.”

After a very light meal, more like a snack really, Aoi went over again what was expected of each of us. I still wasn’t sure how this was supposed to work.  Basically all we were going to do was tell them ‘no’.  Saying it over and over again.  No matter what.  And we were supposed to stay fairly close together.  That’s the only part of this plan that I agreed with.  I did NOT want to have to face any of those crazy things alone. No way.  I’d rather have to face another dragon.  At least I had an idea of how to kill one of them.  No one was even sure if we could kill these.  I don’t even think we were going to try.  We just wanted them gone, so Miyavi could have his realm back and life could return to normal.

Heading for the door, we were taken by surprise when it suddenly burst open. But there was nothing there. It seemingly opened on its own.  Starting to move forward again, I paused.  I could’ve sworn someone brushed past me.  Looking around at the others, I saw the same expressions mirrored on their faces. What now?, was all I could think.

Then the very air seemed to shimmer and shift.  And suddenly there was a woman, long white hair, flowing white gown, standing in front of us.

“I wouldn’t go back out there if I were you.” She spoke softly, just above a whisper. And yet, I had no trouble hearing her. She smiled, probably at the stupid looks on our faces. “You would not be wise to face that many larfings.  There numbers are too great and yours, sadly, are too few. You would all soon fall under their enchantments, should they choose to use them.”

“What should we do, then,  Lady, to rid my realm of these creatures?” Miyavi asked.

Smiling again she turned her attention to Kai.  “Wizard, know you any spells for homesickness? Preferably strong ones.”

“I have learned one that is suppose to work on any creature, especially magical ones.  Would that work Lady?” He asked hopefully.

She nodded at him “Yes. But I am no Lady.  I am an Elemental of Air. You may call me Brize.” She continued softly, “ If you can charm the stronger larfings into returning to their homes, the lesser ones will leave as well.”

“How can we tell which are the stronger?” Uruha wondered.

“They are the ones wearing the bells. Cast your spell on trinkets and baubles and leave them out for the silly things to find.  The lessers will make gifts of them to their leaders.”

“But how can you be so sure that ALL of them will leave?” Aoi asked for all of us.

“It is not in their nature to venture for long from their homes. These have already been away too long.  They should be craving the comforts they are accustomed to. No offense, but your castles are far too cold and drafty for most magical creatures.”

I actually thought that was a good thing.

“If you wish to be certain, perhaps you could find enough of some oddity to leave for the others. It need only catch their eye, if the Wizard’s enchantment is strong enough. Once they hold it in their hands, it should make them long for home.”

I liked this plan much better. And it actually sounded fairly reasonable.

Miyavi, with Reita and myself accompanying him, set out to raid his treasure room, or whatever he wanted to call it, in search for some small trinkets. Reita and I were actually just going along to look for something else useful for the ‘charming’ spell.

Kai had sent Aoi and Uruha out in search for ingredients he was missing.  I’m not really sure which task was more dangerous, but I liked our odds a little better.  Miyavi knew exactly where he was going, and knew secret ways of getting there. Reita had been staying in and around the castle for the better part of a year.  He actually could’ve done either task.  But instead, he gave the others suggestions on where to look, and which hallways to avoid using.

Uruha had just grinned at me, whispering that Reita obviously wanted to go wherever I was going. Because of that, I found myself getting embarrassed.  A lot. At almost every corner our eyes would meet, and I’d blush.  Then he’d grin or chuckle at me. Miyavi finally stopped and asked  what the hell was going on.

Reita flashed me a smile. “Nothing.”

Yeah, right.  And that’s why I’m blushing.
Again.

We finally reached our destination.  It appeared to be Miyavi’s private chambers.  A huge bed on a raised dais took up one whole wall. Reita snickered.  I avoided looking at him.  But I still felt myself blushing. Miyavi rolled his eyes and walked over to a bare spot on one wall. I know this, place your hand just right and push. And ‘bingo’, the wall moves. But while waiting for the whole bit to happen I noticed something on the floor. Inspiration struck.  Walking purposely past Reita, I reached down and picked up the things that had caught my eye.

“I think I know what we can leave for those lesser-whatevers.” I said, holding them up like a trophy.

“Brilliant” Reita beamed at me. As I held on to several strands of brightly colored feathers, strung together to form who-knows-what.

“Ah, come on.” Miyavi pouted. “Not my boa’s”

A/N:   Next chapter should go up tomorrow. As long as I get on the PC, that is.  And I really have been TRYING to write the next part.  But I keep getting sidetracked by smut-scenes. And potential smut-scenes.
Some are  fill-ins for this story.  Others are for the next one.
