Title: Dawn
Characters: John and Mary Winchester
Rating: PG
Summary:For the prompt by cynicl who asked "Papa Winchester tattoo fic - however you work it out will make me a happy girl!"
AN:So...I've never even seen John Winchester's arms so I just used JDM's tat.  It is a beautiful kind of celtic cross so I just mashed the two together.
Disclaimer:  I own nothing.   Just like playing with the boys

She lays nestled in the lee of his arm, blonde hair cascading on and around him.  He draws her closer, reveling in the contented post-sex murmur that escapes from her lips like a prayer.

She traces her fingertips, lightly across the tattoo that graces his arm.

“I never took you to be a religious man, John”

He rumbles into her hair, voice low and deep.  “M’ not really.  Never used to be.”

She waits a moment, John doesn’t talk unless he wants to.

“So, why the cross?”

He shifts his weight, snugs her hips a little closer, breathes in the light of her hair.

“I got it in country.”

She smiles.  “I thought Marine boys got Semper Fi and pin up girls.”

He chuckles then, a warm sound. “Some do.  Some don’t.  Sometimes you find a bit of God in those jungles.”

“Did you, John?”

He drops a kiss to her head.

“I dunno.  I found something there.  Too many close calls.  Too many boys who didn’t make it. Somehow I did. ”

It sounds like regret and pain and an ache so deep that no amount of sex can make it go away.  But she rolls closer to him, breathes deeply on his neck.  He smells of sweat and man and some thing that is so intrinsically John Winchester that it takes her breath away.  She laps there, tongue trailing down his neck, hears him moan in away that is only hers.

She moves to the tattoo, kitten licks and breathy whispers.

“You’re home now."
