Why can't LJ just give us a fucking opt out of this FB/Twitter shit? Saying they respect our privacy concerns and still giving Cryllic users the ability to cross post flocked/protected information is just not acceptable

I know. I trust that most in LJ would be respectful about cross posting unflocked entries, just because it is the right thing to do. But what I am more concerned about is flocked entries.
The latest from the dickheads at LJ is this:
We've disabled the ability to cross-post comments on privacy-protected entries and screened comments for non-Cyrillic users. If you've opted into Cyrillic services, you'll still be able to cross-post protected and screened comments. (If you recently opted into Cyrillic services to purchase custom userheads, you can opt out and retain your purchased userheads.)
To me, that means if you opt for Cryillic services you can STILL CROSS-POST PROTECTED AND SCREENED COMMENTS. How is that stopping people from cross posting protected and screened comments? It doesn't. My thought is that if I post a comment or reply to a comment that is flocked, I don't think that anyone should be able to read that comment unless they are part of the protected group.
If I wanted my flocked comments - lets say I have a previous rant against Dear old Aunt Matilda, some Cryllic user could post a comment saying...I agree, Aunt Matilda is an old hag, put her out to pasture!. See?? Aunt Matilda hops on FB and is able to figure out her niece is really a mean troll, cuts me out of the will and I live destitute for the rest of my life. Okay...so that is a bit far fetched but...
Maybe I am missing something. I dunno but right now all I can think of is that LJ has hooked up with FB and has made a deal with them to allow for cross posting. (probably a lucrative deal) and because they did not bother to check with us, now we are stuck with it.
I understand your frustration and am not saying that LJ has ever been a paragon of careful forethought and planning. However, I think unless Aunt Matilda can read Cyrillic, you're probably going to be okay, since that's a whole other alphabet, etc., and presumably if you've got Cyrillic services, you write and read Cyrillic. Of course, they're based in Russia now, so the Cyrillic thing makes sense--new markets, etc.
Of course, I'm not defending their boneheadedness. I'm just suggesting that maybe you don't have to worry as much unless you do, in fact, have relatives who are fluent in Cyrillic. ;-)
I know but then felciakw posted this on the above post ETA: Ah. I just went back and re-read the beginning of the LJ announcement. I certainly see the problem. It appears as if an English-language LJ can opt in to this service. Which . . . bzuh?
So now I am confused. I appreciate your calming zen-like words of wisdom. I hope you are right and I am wrong.
