Hmm.. I wonder if Sam's finding Dean hurt in that coral that night was the first vision he'd gotten and he just never told Dean about it. Hmm..

The whole story about Dean trying to ride that horse, that was SO Dean. It was awesome and terrifying and.. yes, my whump!Dean loving heart beat just a bit faster :D

Loved the bit with the kid finding a horse for Sam. You know, John Wayne was well over 6' and he always had to ride big horses. The one you describe reminds me of the one he rode in Rio Lobo or The Cowboys. Blaze face, sock feet up to his knees. I think he might've been a morgan, but I figured there was always some Andalusian in some of his mounts. Now THOSE are some amazing looking animals. My favorite had to be the Appaloosa he rode.. though for the life of me I can't recall the movie. Other than Wayne, Clint Eastwood was also a mighty tall drink of water, so his horses were huge. Sam's horse, Howard sounds much like the horse he rode in Outlaw Josey Wales.

Hmm. You are a thinker...

I have to tell you, I thought of John Wayne a lot when going over horses for Sam. (Dean too for that matter) I thought about that big appy more than once. That appaloosa is one of my favorites too.

One of my favorite westerns is The Outlaw Josey Wales.
