The craziness of YouTube
There’s a bit of a lull with work right now, and I’m taking advantage of it by checking out some videos over at YouTube. Nunik had recommended watching 5 Rangers, a Japanese parody of sentai shows. It’s kind of like a reality show in search for a new set of rangers (which apparently, sentais are more famously known). So far I’ve only seen the first episode but it’s such a riot. Search for ‘5 rangers’ in YouTube.
While in on the topic of YouTube, my uncle sent me a link to Brotherhood 2.0. I don’t know what it’s about but this guy was singing about giving him Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows now. The video was dated July 18. After watching it, I found one dated July 24, which I watched. I wasn’t too entertained though.
Speaking of Harry Potter…
Here’s something I overheard yesterday. I was typing some articles for the newsletter, and these two (old) guys were talking behind me. I shall keep their identities a secret, one is He-Who-Complains-Much-About-Transpo and He-Who-Asks-Help-For-The-Newsletter. In short, HWCMAT and HWAHFTW (bwehehehehe).
HWAHFTW picks up Inquirer, skims the front page and turns to HWCMAT. The former says, “Tignan mo tong Harry Potter na to. Billionare na yung writer.”
HWCMAT looks at where HWAHFTW was pointing. No comment. HWAHFTW says, “Di naman totoo eto di ba?” and HWCMAT replies, “Pambata yan.” Then someone said, “Kalokohan,” but I don’t know who was it.
I was grinning while their exchange went on. I wanted to defend Harry Potter simply because I am someone who loves to read and reads children’s books even at my age (hey, nothing bad about it), but then again, a part of me just said “let it be.” Their dialogue isn’t something new to me, in fact, it’s something I would expect from my grandfather. These guys are from the old school of thought, where writers of classics, biographies, autobiographies and historical events are the only writers worth reading. In fairness, I have read plenty from those genres.
Anyway, I just found their conversation amusing.
I’m slowly thawing, thanks to Winston’s thick jacket. He’s out for the moment. It’s freaking 10 degrees C (or below, even) here.
Cold much?
Also tested the webcam on both MSN and Yahoo Messenger. My mom was online for a few minutes and we played around with it, with me viewing her and vice versa. Hehe.
