My weekend so far's been good. Like, good meaning interesting, funny, fun and adventurous.
Touring UP
Friday after work I went to Gateway to meet
Toni. We were supposed to watch a friend of hers play at the UP Lagoon, but due to the looooong Delay (and I say it with a capital D), we didn't get to watch them, so we ended up taking the scenic route around UP Diliman, and dinner at McDonalds. Yet another one for my adventure chronicles.
Saturday
Traffic was horrendous along Ayala. It took me a good fifteen minutes to get from Buendia to the Ayala MRT station. Buying tickets didn't take too long though, and on my way in, I thought I spotted
Jake milling around for a shoot. Never met the guy, but I've seen his picture, so who knows? :D
The train ride was worse than the traffic. Literal body crush. When I got off at Ortigas, I saw
Toni step off the other cab, and we laughed how at least it saved us time looking for each other around Powerbooks. We headed off to Greenhills, not for the tiangge or shopping (because we knew the crowd would be a killer), but for the triple book launch at
Fully Booked (with detours along Booksale :D). We were early, so we browsed around a bit.
Around 7, we went out on the second floor and saw that the book launch had begun. Sort of. The books were out, and people were getting their copies. I saw
Woofy, and we chatted a bit. I saw many familiar faces from the blogworld ---
Dean and
Nikki Alfar (whom I finally got to meet! Yehey!);
Ariel Atienza (Hey "Arnold!" Glad you still remember me!), Marco Dimaano, Lyndon Gregorio, Gerry Alanguilan (uhm, links over at the side people. I'll edit this later) to name a few. Didn't see
Sean though. Still it was great.
And I could reall say it was an EB of sorts because I met
Yvie. Galing talaga! She approached me and introuduced herself when she saw the dedication Ariel wrote in my Siglo. Haha. Goes to show that I need to get out more...
And then back in Megamall, I saw
Lorna! Which was funny because Yvie earlier asked me if I had any news about her, and I said I did invite her to the book launch but didn't get any reply. Turn out, Lorna was on her was to a Radioactive Sago Project gig. I thought about watching too, hoping that I might finally get to talk to
Pards and get updated but I was really very tired, so Toni & I went home... via a very scary bus.
Stayed awake long enough to jot down some story ideas (which I pray will all see the light of day) and watch the finals of Pinoy Big Brother.
Will leave my thoughts on Siglo etc. for later, but I have to admit, the story set in Baguio touched me more than I thought any story could. Brought back memories of Baguio, my grandfather Sal, my late grandmother Lilay (Lolo Sal's wife), and my other grandfather, Lolo Oning, who sort of looks like the grandfather in the story.
