Jennifer Lynn Mazzotta was 23 years old and lived in Maspeth, NY, which is in Queens. As other members of the 2996 project have remarked, it is difficult to write about a person I never knew. Perhaps more important is that she was somebody we would have liked to meet and somebody whom we would be blessed to have in our lives. I read about her online; I wrote to her aunt, who shared a favorite memory. And I miss her. I feel a loss at the wedding she never had. I want her to still be here. Going to the fifth birthday party of the niece she never met. Having children of her own.
Her existence echoes in my heart, and memories curl up in the hearts of those to whom God gave her. That her warmth and love can be bestowed on someone who never met her is a true testament to Jennifer’s life and something I will always be grateful for.
Dear Sabbrielle,
Thank you for taking the time and interest in getting to know Jennifer. It is my pleasure to share a little of her with you.
Jennifer was a witty, fun-loving young woman. She had deep desires for a successful future and mapped out a timeline for herself and her fiance, Anthony, to begin their lives together.
Jennifer had the most beautiful, infectious smile. When she smiled, the room lit up and it was hard not to feel her joy. She loved her family with a passion and had a very special bond with her maternal grandfather, Leonard Saar. She always knew how to make him laugh. Although he adored all of his grandchildren, Jenn was the first and she was special.
She used to tape pictures of herself onto his night table and leave funny notes for him in the oddest places. He called her a "rip" and there was no better description. She left crazy objects in his coat pocket for him to find later on when taking his dog, Bambi, for his nightly walk. I recall one time when she placed a hard boiled egg in it. Both Grandpa and Jenn got such a kick out of that one.
Sabbrielle, Jenn was stunning. Tall, beautiful and real. There was not one ounce of conceit in her body. She was just a beautiful person inside and out. I don't believe she knew just how much she touched everyone's life.
Let everyone know that Jenn was an amazing person. Her family and friends miss her more with each passing day.
Please feel free and write me back if you have questions about our girl. I don't think of this as an intrusion, just a wonderful, thoughtful act.
Take care and God Bless You as well,
Lynda Saar

This is an
article from the NYT about Jennifer that I like.
Keeping Her Standards High
At 8, Jennifer Mazzotta cut out magazine photos of big, luxurious kitchens and bathrooms to tape to the refrigerator door. "For my house," she said. "When I grow up."
Amused and slightly alarmed, Catherine Mazzotta said: "You shouldn't set your standards so high!"
But Jennifer replied firmly: "No, Mom. I'm going to have these."
Fifteen years later, Jennifer Mazzotta, of Queens, was one of Cantor Fitzgerald's youngest traders and engaged to Anthony Roman, a student at the police academy.
"They were on a roller coaster of making their plans," Mrs. Mazzotta said. "He was graduating in February. They were looking for a house. Their wedding was in the summer. They each were saving."
But then, Jennifer had been making meticulous plans since age 5. She got ready for kindergarten by selecting a special outfit, sharpening several number 2 pencils and packing a new box of crayons.
At the school doorway, Mrs. Mazzotta steeled herself for her daughter's tears, "but she just gave me a kiss and said 'Goodbye, Mom,' and walked in without looking back. I was the one who cried."
