Dear Festividder letter

Oct 15, 2013 14:16

I kept telling myself and telling myself not to sign up this year because, as usual, I have too many things on my plate already, but it's festivids! How could I not sign up??? I've participated every year since its inception and most of my best vids came about because of this challenge or the old Sweet Charity.

I haven't thought about what I really want in any of the fandoms I'm requesting yet, though, so for now, this is just a placeholder.

Dear Festividder,

First of all, thank you so very much for making me a vid in one of these underrepresented fandoms that I love. I can't wait to see what you come up with. ♥

Here are a few things to help make that a little easier (I hope):

I love all kinds of music. I have very eclectic tastes in that regard. In general, I don't care for country music, but there are always exceptions - if the vid you want to make cries out for country, then go for it. I'm all about the story. The same thing goes for instrumental music. I prefer music with lyrics, but if you have the perfect instrumental piece for the story you want to tell, go for it.

Some of my favorite artists are, in no particular order of preference, Pink, Imogen Heap, Iron and Wine, Mumford and Sons, Florence and the Machine, Imagine Dragons, Alt-J, MS MR, Laura Marling, Vienna Teng, Carbon Leaf, Depeche Mode, Tom McRae, Muse, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Nine Inch Nails, Radiohead, Silversun Pickups, The xx. Okay, I'll stop now.

And then there are the fandoms I've requested:

Defiance - I would love anything you did focusing on Irissa. She's such a fun character, all prickly and yes, defiant on the one side and then superstitious on another and filled with wonder in yet another side. She has lots of facets and I'd love a vid that explores those facets.

Graceland - My favorite characters on this are Mike and Charlie, although I really like Paul, too. I loved the cat and mouse game between the three of them, so anything involving that would be good, but I would also love a character study-ish vid for either Mike or Charlie just as much.

Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters - I love both of the leads in this movie and the concept is just so off-the-wall, but I never saw the movie. I'd love to watch a kick-ass kind of vid that makes me want to see it, regardless of whether it's a "good" movie or not. I just want to be entertained.

Pacific Rim - This movie surprised me with how much good character stuff was in it, since I was expecting, well, less. I love Mako and I love Raleigh and I love them together. I think what I would like most in a vid for the movie is Mako's story and the support she gets from Raleigh even before they know they're drift compatible (not to mention waaaaaaay attracted to each other).

The Pretender - One of the things I remember best about this show, which I haven't seen in YEARS, is the respect that grew up between Jarod and Miss Parker. And of course I shipped them liek whoa, so there's that, too. I also loved the cat and mouse game between them where it kept switching back and forth as to who was the one manipulating events, so that would be awesome with some shippy undertones.

Sleepy Hollow - OMG this show is such ridiculous CRACK! I love Abbie/Ichabod and I love Abbie & Ichabod. Literally anything you do with these characters will be awesome. It can be as funny or serious or scary as you'd like; I will eat it up and probably ask for more.

Vikings - Lagertha, Viking shield maiden is just such a fabulous character. I'd love a vid with her kicking ass and taking names and taking down would-be rapists, no matter who they are. I also love the relationship she has with Ragnar, so if you wanted to put that in there a little, too, that would be peachy, but mostly I'd love a vid that focuses on Lagertha.

I'll be back to fill in the rest in the morning, dear Festividder. It's nearly midnight here and I have to get some sleep.

festivids!, vidding
