Hunger Games, take 2

So I saw Hunger Games again today and it was actually even more amazing and devastating the second time around:

*-I learned my lesson from the first time and sat in the back of the theater, so the shaky cam didn't bother me. In fact, I never even noticed it.

*-I sat in the back of the theater so when I started crying, nobody else noticed. (Or they were too busy crying themselves to see.)

*-The reaping, Cinna seeing Katniss off as she enters the arena, Rue's death and the subsequent salute to Katniss and riot in District 11, and Cato's final disillusionment lost none of their emotional impact for having seen it already. In fact, as I said above, I think they were even stronger because I was no long OMG HOW ARE THEY GOING TO DO THIS SCENE AND MAKE AS GOOD AS IN THE BOOK (and of course in Cato's scene, it was OMG AZELMAROARK NAILED IT and OH, CATO!). Instead I could pick up on more of the subtle nuances everyone brought to the scene.

*-Because of a horrible thing azelmaroark told me about a theater-full of people who laughed when Rue died (RUE! D: ), I paid special attention to that scene (THROUGH MY TEARS) and there was absolutely nothing that could be remotely considered humorous. Nothing.

*-Things that semi-bothered me the first time around - how quickly Katniss found water, nothing (or next to nothing) with Gale between the reaping and Katniss and Peeta hooking up in the cave, the industrial look of the Cornucopia, the muttations at the end not even being a nod toward the book version that had the dead tributes eyes - didn't bother me this time. I knew they were there and, in at least a couple of case, had discussed them with other people and came to an understanding why they were the way they were in the movie.

All in all, I highly recommend seeing this movie multiple times.

ETA: Oh! I almost forgot. I may be shipping Haymitch/Effie, just a little. A couple of their scenes...
