Ok wow. I'm way behind on the soundtrack (I've only heard "Abraham's Daughter") because part of me is afraid of being spoiled. So I was sitting here going holy crap what a perfect song! I really love that you used this unofficial version! Makes it seem rawer, makes it really seem more specific to the mindset of the Careers, a little bit more than the Capitol. Which I think is what your vid is really about. It was really interesting that you included those "video fanfics" as it added to the scope. They almost were like flashbacks of Hunger Games past. Great job, man! Oh, and I really loved how the title came in with the title of the film at the end!!! Again, it felt really promotional like the Capitol.

OMG! The soundtrack is SO AMAZING AND PERFECT. The official version of the song I used isn't nearly as haunting as this one, but it's so good with changed/expanded lyrics. I'm glad I used this one, too, but I could see remixing this vid once I have the entire movie to draw from and using the official version for that. Heh. I've never remixed myself before, so that'll be fun. ;)

Anyway, I'm so glad you liked this. You're such an amazing vidder that it always means a lot to me when you comment. Thank you!!!

Oh, beautiful vid! (Also, Glen Hansard!! Perfect song and I love that you used his version.) I don't think I've ever seen a mix of official and fan-created source before, but also impressed you did so much with just the trailers. You really captured a solemn, sad, gritty tone with those 'video fanfics' and the slowed-down imagery was really fitting and haunting.

Thank you so much! *squish* This unofficial version of the song just seemed more appropriate (even though I didn't have access to the official version until last night) given that all of this vid is by fans for fans, in a way. (I'm still blown away that Hansard wrote this song solely because he's a big ol' fanboy. \o/)

It looks really clean and nice now, I love it! Oh, Careers. Why. :( And as I mentioned in my beta, I love the implication that the Careers are the Capitol's hired executioners. I think it's seriously impressive what you managed to do with less than five seconds of actual canon movie footage of them. If you ever did another vid about them once we have the whole movie, I'd love to see it.

Thank you! And thank you again for your help on this.

Man, I wish there was more of them in the trailers, but I suppose the real focus of the movie is Katniss, so what're you gonna do? :P

I was watching thinking "there is a lot more footage than I thought there was" I really loved the use of the Hunger Games videos that were circulating before the movie had any footage.

The song was made about The Hunger Games specifically? It being hauntingly accurate for the source was something I was going to mention as well.

Yes, it was. There are two videos at this post that explain it. For the first one, you should turn the volume up so you can hear it - someone used their cell phone, I think, to make the video - he talks about the theme of the song. The second vid is the song itself, probably from the same concert.

Wow that is very haunting! I like the version of the song very much. It's a lot more raw and 'last ditch effort' than the one on the soundtrack. I have never seen the non-movie footage here, but it all had the same feel so fit together well. I didn't realize there was so much footage available, even! Anyway it was awesome! Loved the mockingjay title throughout and at the end, hit with the arrow.

Are you seeing the film tonight at midnight? Just wondering. I am going sometime this weekend. Excited!
