7 Days of Jesse Flores, Day 5

Sep 14, 2011 12:10

Yes, I know, today should be Day 6, but I had no chance to work on or post this yesterday, so you'll be getting two Jesse posts today. Yay?

Today I bring you a picspam. At least two pics from each of Jesse's episodes.

The Tower is Tall but the Fall is Short

...Derek is surprised to encounter Jesse, an ex-lover who has gone AWOL, fleeing the dystopia of the future for the comfort of the present day. - from the Terminator Wiki

This isn't our (or Derek's) first glimpse of Jesse, but those caps weren't so good, just of her running, so instead I used caps from when Derek is sure that it really is Jesse Flores, whom he had left behind without even a goodbye.

Brothers of Nablus

Moishe winds up dead at the business end of Jesse's gun, because he's been dropping her name a little too often for her liking. Or for Derek's, for that matter, because after Moishe mentions "Jesse" and Sarah asks Derek about it, he takes advantage of the androgynous name and pretends Jesse is a he who came over with him and was killed by a terminator. - from TWoP

In the first cap, Jesse is enjoying a little time pool side at that fancy hotel where she lives. In the second, she is visiting Moishe the diamond fence, when Derek shows up.

Complications

Jesse captures a Skynet collaborator from the future who allegedly tortured Derek, but Derek has no memory of the man. This leads him to believe that his actions in the present may have already begun altering the future. - from the Terminator Wiki

In these pictures we see (if I recall correctly) Jesse confronting Charlie Fischer, a human who, in 2027, will help/helps/helped Skynet interrogate other humans, including both Jesse and Derek (in her timeline, anyway). Correction made based on info from nicole_anell.

Strange Things Happen at the One Two Point

... Jesse faces problems ... involving her plans for the Connors... - from the Terminator Wiki

Jesse's aforementioned problems involve Riley, who we see in the second picture after Jesse has caught up with her in a boutique shop. The first pic is here just 'cause I like it.

Alpine Fields

Details of Derek and Jesse's first meeting are also explored. - from the Terminator Wiki

These pictures are from that first meeting between Derek and Jesse, where she saved his life with snark and flirting.

Earthlings Welcome Here

Details of Jesse and Riley's relationship are also revealed. - from the Terminator Wiki

Jesse and Riley, having arrived in our present and already taken care of stealing some clothes, check into Jesse's hotel. And OMG! The hair! The gorgeous, GORGEOUS HAIR!

The Good Wound

John may have more to deal with than he ever considered since Riley's disappeared -- Jesse's broken her out of the hospital and brought her back to the hotel where they continue to have a most disturbing relationship. - from TWoP

Jesse gives Riley a little "pep talk" after Riley's attempted suicide.

Ourselves Alone

Riley discovers her partner Jesse has betrayed her by trying to provoke Cameron to kill her, and a confrontation ensues. - from the Terminator Wiki

Okay. The first pic is here because I just love it. A little quiet moment before all hell breaks loose where Jesse can just be herself for a minute. Because starting with the very next pic, of her pushing Riley further into a corner (or, you know, riding bikes together), things start to go very pear-shaped for Jesse, including a somewhat tense encounter with Sarah Connor and a violent confrontation with Riley.

Today is the Day, parts 1 and 2

Jesse flashes back to a life-altering mission aboard her submarine, the Jimmy Carter. The sub is piloted by a reprogrammed Terminator who surreptitiously changes course, telling her that John Connor ordered him to pick up a mysterious package from an offshore oil rig. ... Jesse’s submarine mission in the future takes a fatal turn when the box is opened, revealing a T-1001 and changing her perception of machines forever. Sarah has a talk with Cameron about John, while John confronts Jesse and reveals that he's known about her for weeks. He tells Jesse to leave, but she meets Derek in the parking lot, who aims to kill her. - from the Terminator Wiki

These episodes open with Jesse staring regretfully at Riley, dead at Jesse's hands and then we move on to her submarine mission in 2027, pivotal in so many ways to both her story and the overall fight for the future. Most of the pics are from the submarine story, but there is also a gorgeous shot of Jesse trying to escape even her current reality by drowning it out with exercise and the sequence ends during her confrontation with Derek, where he has finally realized that she isn't his Jesse and hasn't yet had time to come to terms with that.

And, in putting this together, it finally dawned on me the parallel stories - Jesse, fighting the future war at odds with her leader, John Connor, and Catherine Weaver, fighting the future war at odds with her leader, Skynet. Man, I feel robbed, yet again, of the stories TPTB still had to tell. Frak you FOX! And in my world, Derek didn't kill Jesse and she hooked up later with Sarah and Ellison to fight Skynet in the present while John and Derek and Catherine and the others fight it in the future. A two-pronged attack on Skynet.
