If you had to delete all but five of your stories, which five would you keep and why? (Or ten if you're more prolific.)
Okay, so I probably qualify for the prolific part, but I'm only going to "keep" five anyway, and these are those five:
Control - Battlestar Galactica, 8000+ words, Helo/Six, NC-17
This fic was written because I was joking around with a couple of others on LJ about how ridiculously hot Helo and Six would be. It should have been PWP, but it grew kind of a plot and some real backstory for Helo, and it's one of my favorite fics that I've written (as are the other four listed in this meme).
Letting Go - Battlestar Galactica, 6000+ words, Helo/Racetrack, NC-17
This one was written a long time ago for a secondary character challenge, which is part of what I love about it, but it also caused Leah Cairns (the actress who plays Racetrack) to send me a letter asking me permission to use the backstory I'd created for Racetrack in her portrayal, and she and Tahmoh decided to use it as inspiration for the way Helo and Racetrack played off each other. Embarrassing and exhilirating all at the same time. /o\ \o/ It also sparked a bit of discussion in the comments about birth control in the BSG 'verse and the merits of characters having flaws.
Scenes From a Liberation - Battlestar Galactica, 21k+ words, Helo/Athena at its heart but a whole lotta others in it, too, PG-13 (although I do feel I should warn for rape)
This took a long time to write and was a labor of love in spite of how things turned out with my friendship with the man it was written for. This is probably the plottiest BSG fic I've written and I do still hope to one day write the sequel (but don't hold your breath). I also feel it's one of my more underappreciated fics, but that may just be an effort-at-writing to comment ratio thing. :P
Left Behind - Farscape, 56k+, John Crichton and Chiana (or John/Chiana, if you'd like), PG-13
My first plotty fic, my first truly AU fic (but then again, the way I set it up, it could still fit in with canon), my first (and pretty much only) fic successfully written as a "WIP." There are a lot of reasons I love this one. And reading it through again not too long ago, I was frakking frelling SHOCKED that I had written it, original characters and all. Especially since it was only what? The second or third fic I'd ever written? :D
A Patch of Sunshine - Terminator: the Sarah Connor Chronicles, 4800 words, Riley Dawson and John Connor, PG-13
Riley was such an underappreciated character and I loved writing some backstory for her and exploring a bit of what her world was like before traveling to a time before Judgment Day.
There you have it. The five fics I wouldn't delete if I were only allowed to keep five. So. What're yours? :)
