Ideal Episodes/Storylines?
I was thinking about this today while I was doing laundry and I was wondering what kind of ideal episode plots and/or long term storylines/arcs everyone would like to see on the show?
For example, I'd really love to see a flashback episode to the day of the actual switch and find out what really happened, how were the girls switched? Did Regina and Kathryn have emergency deliveries and not get to see their girls before they were taken away? Were the girls physically switched or was it something more simple, like the jumbling up of wrist bands or the information cards on their carts? There are so many questions and I think a flashback episode would be a great way to answer them.
I'm also mulling over the idea of a, "What if?" episode. If anyone here watches One Tree Hill, they did something like that when Nathan was in the hospital and dreamed of what his life would've been like if Dan had married Karen, his half brother's mother, instead of his. Katie Leclerc doesn't have the deaf accent in real life and she grew up hearing, but she has some medical condition (I forget what it's called) that messes with her hearing, so some days she can hear fine and others she might be hard of hearing or completely deaf. I can't remember if she said she was considered legally deaf due to the condition or not. But since that's the case, it could be feasible for Katie to play a hearing character for an episode.
The trick would be: could Vanessa pull off a deaf character? I'm not sure how hard it is to pull off the deaf accent, so I don't know. (But then, there are some - not a lot - of deaf people who can talk without the deaf accent, so that could be an option too.) Although, they could make Vanessa non-oral for an episode, like Emmett, if they couldn't get around that, she'd just have to really get her signing skills down. I think it could be kind of cool, since Bay is constantly talking to people about wondering how her life would've been like if she hadn't been switched. They could even use it as an excuse to bring Ty back for an episode, without taking Blair away from his new show full time. Given the spoilers and rumors circulating about Bay and Emmett right now, I wonder how something like that would go? Would Emmett grow up crushing on Bay? Would Bay and Ty have still had a brother and sister-like relationship like Ty and Daphne? Or would Ty and Bay have been attracted to each other no matter what? (Or a Ty/Bay/Emmett love triangle?) If Bay and Ty had no each other from the start and been romantically involved, would Ty have still chosen to enlist? I'd also love to see what would've happened if Daphne had been raised with the Kennishes. Would she still have clicked with Liam? Would they be a happy power couple right now? Would Daphne still be the bubbly happy thing that she is, or would she be more rebellious? I dunno, but there's a lot of potential to explore the "What ifs?" there, IMHO.
