vgerland - Clark and Richard bonding while watching a 'Horror' movie with Richard. Ha ha better not be slash with Jason in the room.
Summary: Clark isn't so sure about Richard's choice for movie night with Jason
Disclaimer: DC and WB own it all. I own nothing. Darnit.
Author's Notes: Post-Aftermath. It's not necessary to read that first, of course. The gist is that Clark and Lois are married now, and Richard is still very much a part of Jason's life. Vanna - It wasn't easy going back to the platonic route with them. But I think I (mostly) succeeded. XD And not so much with the 'bonding' per se, but they're watching a movie! With Jason! So... I hope you like this. ^_^
Classic
“Are you sure about this?” Clark asked, setting the bowl of popcorn on Jason's lap and dropping down onto the couch beside his son. In a fluke of luck, he'd had the weekend relatively free, so with no disasters to worry over, he'd been invited to Richard and Jason's movie night at the other man's apartment further uptown. Little did he know what was on the movie-watching agenda, and discovering it was a horror flick only just before 'play' time had him a little more than hesitant.
On the other side of the little boy, Richard grinned and grabbed a handful of popcorn. “Absolutely. Besides, Jason's already seen the first two, haven't you, squirt?” he said, ruffling Jason's hair with his free hand and dropping his arm around the boy's little shoulders.
Nodding emphatically, Jason smiled up at Clark. “Yup. We watched Evil Dead One and Two last month, so now I gotta see Army of Darkness.”
Clark half-heartedly scowled. “Your mom know about this?” No way Lois would let their little boy watch this kind of stuff. No way. At least, there were never any horror movies in their apartment...
“Relax, Clark,” Richard chuckled. “Everything's been cleared with Lois for a while now.”
“You're positive?” the taller man asked seriously. “She never said anything to me.”
“Really? Hmm... Well, we had the horror movie discussion a long time ago, when Jase was four, actually. He's already seen several classic horror flicks.”
Clark frowned. “Define 'classic'.”
Chuckling again, Richard started counting with his free hand, “Psycho, The Birds, Texas Chainsaw Mass-”
“You let him watch Texas Chainsaw Massacre?!” Clark gaped, not believing what he was hearing. How could his six-year-old son have seen that and not had nightmares for a month? “Are you nuts?”
The other man held up his hand defensively. “Whoa, whoa! Lois agreed that it was okay as long as Jason didn't have nightmares and as long as we discussed what stuff was real and what was fake.”
“I don't have nightmares, I promise, Daddy!” Jason cut in, pushing his hair back from his face with a small hand. “And we always talk about that stuff. I know the Evil Dead movies are all fantasy, anyway. People don't come back from the dead as evil zombies,” he finished, rolling his eyes and looking entirely too much like his mother when she was aggravated.
Looking from his son to Richard and back, Clark felt his position weakening, even if his shock hadn't begun to fade yet. If Lois thought this was okay, and her rules were being followed... who was he to say no? “Mmm...” he begrudgingly agreed, “all right, then. But if I think it's getting to be too much, the movie stops.”
“Clark, Chainsaw Massacre. He's seen worse and been fine.”
Blowing out a heavy breath and leaning back into the couch, Clark grabbed the remote control and pressed play.
Richard flashed his thousand-watt grin at him over Jason's head, then cuffed him on the arm. “No worries, I promise. This is kid stuff.”
Clark had to wonder how Lois could stand - or had ever resisted - his charm. Please don't let this come back to bite me in the ass.
“My name is Ash, and I'm a slave...” the movie started, and between the two men, Jason bounced excitedly.
