Unbreakable
Jason didn't need to hear the words. None of this, not the speech, not the ceremony, not the suits, not the rings, not even the witnesses, who somehow included half the cape and cowl community, thanks to Alfred, none of it mattered.
All he needed was to see his Baby Bird's face, to look him in the eyes as Zatanna said the words--who'd have guessed she was ordained, anyway?--and he knew the bond they shared was real. That it'd always been real, from that very first meeting, that horrible fight when Jay had been so out of his mind. That Tim had never blamed him, that he'd known, deep down, who Jay really was beneath the mask of insanity he'd worn so tightly at the time. That the kid he'd hated so damn much, the 'Replacement', had been meant for him all along. That Jay had been meant for Tim just the same. That there was nothing in this universe or any other that could separate them.
That it was fucking fate that led them here.
It was all there in his boy's eyes, all that and more. Jason was lost and found all at once. Absolute certainty. Euphoria. Perfection. Fuck, everything he'd ever wanted or needed or imagined.
And just like that, the words had all been said, his own slipping past his lips so automatically that he wasn't even sure he'd said them until Zee made her pronouncement, and Tim was kissing him, both of them drowning in the magic of the moment--yeah, he thought it, so what?--while the cheer that rose up around them faded away into the background. There was nothing but Jason and Tim, nothing but their bond, the perfect circle of magic binding them now and forever, invulnerable, inviolable, unbreakable.
