infinite muscle
fights my telekinesis
pinned against the wall

sweat slides down temples
heavy breaths betray terror
no way to fight me

I'll take his powers
Invulnerability
might beyond measure

kryptonite, my one
assistant, keeps him weakened
I relish his pain

the screams, exquisite
symphony of my triumph
Superman is mine


Evolution

“You've read the X-Men?”
“Of course! Do you think it's like-”
“It's nothing like that.

“There's no single gene;
It's macroevolution,”
Mohinder explains.

“Then it's a broad trend?”
“Broader than you would believe.”
“Try me. I'd believe.”

Mohinder guesses,
“You've shown an ability?”
“Um... not exactly.”

Clark smiles shyly,
lifts off from the floor gently.
“I'm not from this world.”

“Extraordinary.
I knew there was something just...
special about you.”

With a grin, Clark lands.
“Adaptive radiation
seems to explain this.

Homo sapiens
is filling empty niches;
it's punctuated-”

“-equilibrium.
Exactly. Cumulative
random mutation.”

Clark thinks Mohinder
is brilliant as the sunshine.
They both understand.
