Summary: Sam walks out of the choir room after Mercedes "serenades" him with "I Will Always Love You", Puck goes after him.

"Dude."

Sam doesn't stop walking as he hears the familiar voice and footsteps coming from behind him. He doesn't even acknowledge the person because all he wants to do is get the hell out of there.

"Dude, wait up!"

Sam knows he can't keep running away from Puck, because somehow, the guy always know where to find him.

It's kind of creepy... But then again, it's not. It just shows how good of a friend Puck really is.

If you asked Sam, he is the best.

"What do you want, Puck?" Sam asks as he whirls around to face his friend.

"Good. You're not crying because I'm not good with handling things when people are crying."

Puck sounds just that little bit uncomfortable, which elicits a smile and a soft chuckle out of Sam.

"Look, dude," Puck continues on, "You might not want to hear this right now, but she really made the right decision. She needs some time and so do you. She cheated on her boyfriend with you and I know, I'm one to talk, because I've cheated on lots of girls but that doesn't count because I've never had a real relationship with them. She had. You both need some time to figure out what you really feel for each other. Then you can still figure out what you're gonna do afterwards."

Sam just stares at Puck until Puck gets irritated.

"What?"

Sam just cocks his eyebrow, "Since when did you become so smart?"

Puck ducks his head and Sam swears he can see a blush on the other boy's cheeks. He doesn't say anything about it though, because he'll never live it down if he does.

"Shut up," Puck mutters and Sam can't help but grin when the other boy looks back up at him. "You know I just play dumb sometimes, Evans. I do have a rep to keep up you know."

Sam nods, because he does know. He also knows that Puck always helps him because of his dyslexia.

It's only when they're alone, like right now, that that softer side of Puck comes out and Sam sometimes wishes other people could see it too.

He doesn't tell Puck that because he knows that will get the boy to close up again, even to him, and that's the last thing Sam ever wants to happen.

"Thanks, Puck."

He hopes he sounds sincere enough and he hopes Puck realizes that he's thanking him for so much more than just his piece of advice.

He's thanking him for being the friend he never had. He just hopes Puck gets that.

Apparently he does, because a smile, an actual genuine smile appears on Puck's face which makes Sam's stomach do a weird fluttering kind of thing which he just chooses to ignore.

Just like he always does.

"No sweat, man."

Puck holds up his fist and Sam bumps it with his, both smiling at each other.

"You ready to come back inside?"

Sam looks back to the door of the choir room before looking back to his friend.

"Nah, I think I'll bail."

"Want some company?"

With a grin on his face, Sam nods and bumps his shoulder against Puck's.

"Let's go then."

And both boys leave. Sam feeling a lot better than he did before. All thanks to his best friend, Puck.
