“What are you thinking about?”
Aiba approached his husband in the kitchen. Based on the state of the kitchen, Sho must have been preparing breakfast but got only half-way through it before Aiba found him just standing there with a silly grin on his face.
“Ah, Masaki! You’re up already!” Sho cried out startled. “I wanted to surprise you!” He complained with a pout.
That made Aiba smile.
“You wanted to make breakfast? That sure is surprising in itself,” he said with a teasing tone that made Sho pout some more. Aiba loved his husband, there were a lot of reasons that made him marry Sho. His kitchen abilities were not among them though.
“I did the ordering and set the table…” Sho protested weakly.
Aiba couldn’t help but laugh out loud at that. His husband was just adorable. He stepped to Sho and put his arms around his neck.
“My hero!” He said and pressed a kiss to Sho’s lips.
Sho knew Aiba was teasing him but that didn’t stop the proud, pleased smile that lit up his face.
“Happy anniversary, Masaki!” Sho said and pulled Aiba back for a longer kiss.
“So, what were you thinking about?” Aiba repeated his original question when they sat down to the table where Sho presented bagels, waffles, pancakes and all the rest of Aiba’s favorite breakfast foods.
“Ah, I just remembered our wedding…”

1 year ago - the night before the wedding
“Alright, Sho-chan, say goodbye to your beloved husband-to-be! We’ll see you tomorrow at the wedding hall!” Nino, Aiba’s best-man and childhood friend announced, breaking up the dinner party.
Neither Sho, nor Aiba wanted to have a big bachelor party, so instead they decided to have a little dinner gathering with their closest friends only. The two other attendants were Sho’s cousin, Ohno, and best friend, Jun. To make it special, since they had similar dinner parties all the time, Aiba suggested that he and Sho would spend the night before the wedding separately. According to this plan, he would go and spend the night with Nino at his place, while Ohno and Jun would stay and keep company to Sho at the couple’s home.
“Oh, it’s time already?” Sho asked surprised.
“It’s late and the two of you should rest before the big day, shouldn’t you? Also, you’re not supposed to see the bride before the wedding,” Nino added snickering as he ushered Aiba to the door.
“I thought he was not supposed to see the bride in the wedding dress…” Ohno mused aloud, half comatose from all the food and drinks they consumed in the past few hours, then burst out giggling. Whether it was from all the alcohol or the image of Aiba in a dress, it remained a mystery to the others.
“Oi, why am I the bride?!” Aiba complained loudly, widely gesturing with his arms in protest.
“Didn’t you want to spend the night separately to protect your virginity?” Nino asked blinking innocently, looking at his best friend with a faked shocked expression.
Jun snorted unattractively at that.
“As if… we all know that ship sailed like ages ago. Sho made sure of that…”
“Oi!” Sho and Aiba cried out at the same time but the next moment all of them burst out laughing.
Jun wasn’t wrong after all…

1 year ago - day of the wedding
Sho knocked on the door of the dressing room where Aiba was getting ready, then entered. He was on his way to get ready himself too but he wanted to say hi to his Masaki first.
“Hi, Sho-chan!” Aiba smiled brightly when he saw him.
Aiba was already dressed in the silver three-piece suit they chose for the wedding. Sho couldn’t help but gape when he saw him all dolled up. The flash of the photographer’s camera pulled him out of his reverie.
“Oh… Ehm… Hi, Masaki! You look good…” he said clearing his throat.
“Thank you, Sho-chan!... So, did you deliver the flowers to the guys to decorate the hall?”
Sho and Aiba decided to do as much as they could themselves to cut back the wedding costs as much as possible. (‘Wouldn’t it be better to spend all that money on the honeymoon instead?’) Luckily, their friends and family were more than happy to help out with everything. Right now, Jun was supposed to coordinate the decoration of the wedding hall. To where Sho was supposed to deliver the flowers that he was to pick up from the florist in the morning…
“Seeing his face, my guess is he didn’t…” Nino commented evilly snickering. He was perched on the couch at the moment, playing something on his phone. He, of course, claimed that Aiba will need his best-man for moral support all through the preparations so unfortunately he couldn’t take on any additional roles for the day. Or so he said…
“Sho-chan!”
“I did pick them up from the florist…” Sho said in his defense. “Then… I went home for my stuff and… left the flowers there?...”
“You left them…?” Aiba echoed Sho’s words incredulously. “Sho-chan, you have to go back and get them before…”
“Sakurai Sho!” Jun stormed in the room furiously. “You were supposed to bring the flowers an hour ago. Where are they? How am I supposed to decorate this wedding of yours when I don’t even have anything to decorate it with?”
Sho looked like a school boy scolded by the principle. With no other option, he listened to Jun meekly but pouting, eyes strictly on the floor. This day should be about everyone celebrating him and Masaki, why was he being scolded like a toddler then?!
“Sorry, I was about to go and get them now…” Sho admitted, heading straight to the door. He was not running, though! He was not afraid of Jun, thank you very much!
“You better hurry up! If you’re not back in half an hour I’m walking out of here and you can do whatever!” Jun threatened, even if they all knew he would never do such thing. He was too loyal for that. He was just big on theatrics. “And you still have to get ready! You’re a mess. You can’t attend a wedding looking like that!” Jun yelled after Sho as the groom sped down the corridor…

After the flower-incident, the rest of the preparations went surprisingly smoothly. Well, as smoothly as they could in a time pinch. But they had Jun and thanks to him, everything got in place just in time.
Once the ceremony was over and the reception started, they could breathe in relief. Or so they thought…
Nino approached Jun sneakily. He tugged on his sleeve to discretely remove him from his conversation.
“Hey, J! You usually have everything, don’t you?” Nino asked whispering.
Jun looked at him suspiciously. He wasn’t sure if Nino actually needed something or he was simply messing with him.
“I try to be prepared, yes. Why?”
“Great! Then come with me!” Nino said, and grabbing Jun’s bag, he marched away.
“Oi, Ninomiya!” Jun hissed after him but his friend didn't reply so Jun had no choice but following him if he didn’t want to cause a scene.
“Nino-chan! You’re back finally!” Aiba exclaimed. He was standing in the middle of the restroom, anxiety written all over his face while he was holding his pants together where the seam broke on his hip.
“Of course, and I brought the cavalry, so chill!” Nino said, pushing Jun in the front, handing his bag back to him.
Jun groaned frustrated at the scene before him.
“What have you done?” He asked shaking his head. “I told you when you chose these pants to be careful because this fabric is very delicate!” He complained but pulled out a sewing kit from his bag and started on fixing Aiba’s clothes.
“I know! And I was careful but you didn’t say they could tear just from getting up from my seat!” Aiba said complaining.
Jun didn’t say it out loud but he was pretty sure Aiba’s ‘getting up’ meant shooting out of his seat just to jump onto someone in greeting or something like that. Instead he tried focusing on fixing the pants to the best of his abilities, which was quite difficult, considering Aiba’s constant fidgeting under his hands.
“Can you fix it? Tell me you can! I can’t go out without pants on… I can’t believe I’ll miss out my own wedding! Sho-chan will be really sad… And upset! He’ll think I don’t love him anymore!”
“Calm down, Aiba-shi! J will fix you up in no time. And I’m sure Sho-chan will not think that. He’s too stupidly in love with you for that,” Nino said trying to calm his friend down. As funny as Aiba was at the moment, Nino rather didn’t want to see as he riled himself up into total panic. Aiba should have fun on his big day.
“There, it’s all done!” Jun announced getting up and putting away his sewing kit. “But you really have to be careful from now on. No more running or jumping or any other non-sense. Behave or it won’t hold and I won’t be able to fix it for a second time, got it?” He warned Aiba seriously.
“Yeah, got it. Thank you, Matsujun! You saved my wedding!” Aiba said happily, hugging his friend tightly.
“Alright, let’s get out of here before people get the wrong idea. Three grown men in the toilette…” Nino said snickering.
“You’re the only one here with such dirty mind…” Jun shot back as they headed back to the reception hall.
Right outside the door, they found Sho and Ohno with one of the catering personnel. Seeing Sho’s frown and how the woman kept bowing her head, it couldn’t be good news.
“What is it?” Aiba asked when the woman left. A frown appeared on Aiba’s face as well like an instant reaction to Sho’s stressed expression. He reached out to take Sho’s hand and to comfort him.
“They left the cake topping under the heating lamp,” Ohno said. “It’s melted…”
As a professional baker, Ohno offered to make the wedding cake for the happy couple as a gift. The offer of course included the special cake topping. It took him a whole week to create the little Sho and Aiba figurines. They were completely life-like, or so he said. But now they were ruined…
“I go see if there’s anything salvageable…” Ohno then said after a few moments of heavy silence and headed toward the kitchen area.
“I wanted to see the cute little Masaki figurine that nii-san made…” Sho whined with a pout when he and Aiba were left alone.
“I know. I wanted to see the cute little Sho-chan figurine too. But I’m sure the cake is still delicious. Oh-chan made it and he’s the best baker in Tokyo!” Aiba said enthusiastically, trying to cheer Sho up.
His husband brightened up a bit at that.
“Yeah, you’re right as always, babe. It would be worse if they’d ruined the cake, wouldn’t it?”

A few hours later the party was coming to the end. Most of the guests left already but the happy couple hardly seemed to care. They were in their own little bubble, swaying slowly to the music.
“Ne, Sho-chan…” Aiba mumbled in his husband’s ear. “This is the happiest day in my life… I’m so glad I found you…” he whispered sniffing a little.
Sho chuckled lightly and pulled Aiba even closer, peppering little kisses on his face and neck. The trick worked because Aiba soon stopped sniffing and a tiny sleepy giggle escaped him.
“Me too, Masaki. Me too… This was the best day ever! I love you…”

Day of the 1st anniversary
“Ah!... It was such a chaos, wasn’t it?” Aiba laughed so hard a few teardrops spilled from his eyes. “Matsujun was so angry with you!...”
They were long done eating as much of the breakfast buffet Sho put together as they could but they just sat there, nursing coffee and re-telling their favorite moments of their big day.
“I know!” Sho agreed laughing. It wasn’t much of a laughing matter back then, it’s not very enjoyable when Jun yelled at someone. It was the eyebrows, probably… “But what I can’t believe, is how nii-san managed to save the cake topping!” He said shaking his head but his eyes sparkled happily.
Their joyful reminiscing was interrupted by Sho’s phone ringing loudly in the other room.
“Go, answer it! I’ll clean up. After all, you did the cooking,” Aiba said with a teasing grin before pressing a loud kiss on Sho’s lips.
Sho left the kitchen giggling.
Once Aiba was done cleaning up the breakfast feast, he went to look for Sho to ask if he wanted to go out on a date today. To see a movie or for a walk… Or visiting the zoo!... Like in the old days when they just started dating. ‘All those memories made me feel nostalgic like an old man!’ he thought chuckling.
“Sho-chan?”
Aiba found Sho in the living room. He was obviously done with his call but looked like he was frozen, just standing there with the phone in his hand. Aiba stepped to Sho and touched his shoulder carefully.
“Sho-chan? Something happened?”
Sho turned to look at him with a dazed expression.
“It was the adoption agency… We’re going to have a baby…”
“What? Are you serious?” Aiba asked, his eyes quickly filling with tears.
“Yes, yes, yes! We’re going to have a baby!” Sho repeated, hugging Aiba tightly…

Few weeks later…
Sho and Aiba stood next to the crib, watching their baby son sleeping there peacefully.
They just arrived home, it was their first day as a family and they felt extremely overwhelmed already. Both of them were smitten the moment they saw those chubby cheeks and big doe eyes. He was simply perfect. And he was theirs…
Aiba clung to Sho hand tightly, sniffing, trying to hold back his tears. He didn’t want to wake the baby up with his crying.
“I’m sorry, Sho-chan, I have to take back what I said on our wedding day…” he whispered.
“Huh?” Sho looked at his husband confused but when he saw his brilliant smile, he relaxed a little.
“This is the happiest day of my life…” Aiba laughed silently.
