In my head, the Winchesters mostly stuck to smaller places (I don't know if that's canon or just something I got into my head at some point). From what I understand, smaller places are a bit less open to lifestyles that differ from the norm. They'd know this; they're Winchesters. So, while Sam probably researched the universities he applied to in depth, Dean most certainly hasn't.
I confess: I know very little about the US as a whole, and most of my focus when researching was trans* related (or maps and distances, because I like maps and distances). On that note, though. UT at Austin is liberal today, but has it always been? When writing this, I tried to keep in mind that parts of it took place in the late nineties, and the rest of it in early 2000. But at the same time, I do think it's important to remember there's a difference between character and author. Bottom line, though? I'm Swedish and ignorant. Forgive me?

No! I'm just nitpicky. And it was just sort of nagging at my mind. The fic is very very amazing - both concept and writing wise.

Keep up the good work!

The relationship between Dean and Sam was awesome, and I'm glad that Bobby worked so hard to relate to Sam. John... I'm not sure if his attitude is because he wants order in his world, or because Sam's "attitude" makes them too memorable. Either way, it sucks.
Although, I wonder if he would accept the change in Sam if it would keep the demons from being able to use him.

I hadn't even thought about demons and Sam. But, yes, actually.
Thank you for reading, and commenting, and I'm really happy you liked my story.

FTM Dean? In that case, I feel obliged to tell you I've written one like that, too. It's on both here and on AO3. Also, Busaikko wrote this. It's wonderful. Oh, but only if you're interested. Sometimes it's better not reading the kind of thing you're trying to write. Good luck!

And I will definitely check it out! I like to read things that are similar when I'm writing stuff actually, because it helps me sort of catch mistakes I might make. Plus I have this story pretty much set, I just need to write it. :P And FTM stories are sort of my weakness. :P

Good luck, then!
