Smash Bros. Brawl midnight launch

Mar 08, 2008 09:06

**sigh** Tonight is the countdown for the midnight launch for Smash Bros Brawl, a game that Wii owners has reserved and waited for since last year. I'm not really looking forward to it because I'll be picking it up by myself. Although Vince and I did reserve our own copies, he will not be able to make it to the midnight launch because of his projects. So... I'll be surrounded by creepy fanboys while I wait at Gamestop.

For anybody who reserved, they can come in at 10:00 pm to pay off the game so when midnight rolls around, they just have to pick up the game. They will also host a tournament around the same time before the launch.

Whee o_O

Well, this is something to look forward to. Whoever wins the tournament for the launch get this "trophy" (from Kotaku.com)

So I got there a little before 10:00 pm but I was too embarrassed to go inside-- I literally was the only girl in there amongst the palette of big, fat, skinny, old, emo guys. There was one Asian chick there but she only wanted to get in to get her brother. I paid off my reservation then waited in my car until 11:30 hit. I didn't stick around because they were having a tournament.

Thankfully, a few more, uh, "girls" showed up... If you counted trailer moms and stoned chicks. Midnight hit but no one was allowed inside just yet. The winner of the tournament got to be the first in line to take home his copy. This "winner" was just a pasty fat kid wearing a black shirt and dark red pajama pants. He triumphantly walked out with Brawl in his Gamestop bag and the trophy (shown above) and yelled, "YEAHHHHHHHHH!!". Nobody cheered or applauded for him. One of the guys in line who participated and lost in the tournament broke the silence by yelling out, "YOU'RE FAT!". Of course, they were upset: he won as Yoshi.

I finally got my copy and drove home. I didn't stay up to play. I just wanted to sleep.
