All the little "digs" must be adding up on Tony.

He needs hugs... and slaps!

And if you're going the way I think you're going (Tony being abused), I feel bad for him and I can't wait until people find out. I actually have a fic idea in my head where Tony's father is accused of murdering a petty officer, and it's revealed that he sexually and physically abused Tony when he was younger, and Tony repressed those memories.

It's canon that Tony was smacked as a child but to what degree we don't know. We can only guess, but there are little clues in quite a number of episodes. Although he had quite a privileged upbringing, his father drank, he was left in a hotel suite for 2 days and no one noticed until his father got the room service bill, and... he was cut off by his father when he was 12, I think. They don't appear to have anything to do with each another now anyway.
So who knows what happened... there are so many possibilities, which is great for fanfic writers.

I loved the metaphor of Gibbs as a cat as well -- very true, very realistic (as a cat owner, the 'move swiftly into his path and trip him up' rings true).

Something seems to be going on in Season 6 between Gibbs and Tony. Gibbs has made a number of remarks about Tony which could be mistaken as jokes were it not for the fact that he actual says them with some hostility and not with his usual smile and hint of affection. It's quite subtle. It feels like they're building up to something but I don't know what.
I'm so glad you mentioned the cat metaphor. My cat bats me on the ankles whenever I walk past and she has an amazing ability to Gibbs-stare me off the sofa so she can take my place and then go to sleep. Honestly it's scary! It's like I have my own feline version of Gibbs. One that constantly ankleslaps me and gives me a hard stare.
