thanks for understanding.

most of the main issues are included in the lj_userdoc post that i posted earlier. i think.

here are some main ones:
we need the style information. the s2id number, layout layer name/number, user layer number, and theme layer number.
we all need all of these to be source_viewable
then a list of alterations to make.

hmm... "we" in this case is most likely "me" but it's how i like to get things done.

i was going to write a php script to help with setting up entries, but then my bandwidth went through the roof with another quiz i wrote and my website is down until later today (hopefully).

so... if you are familiar with the advanced customization center, what i do is i get all the information on the edit syle page, then create a new style on my account with a user layer, put the code from their user/theme layer into my user layer, make the code prettier, optimize it to how i like it, tweak as requested, provide previews of each page view by appending the s2id to various pages of my journal, and give them the layer code if they're happy with it.

that was probably more than you needed to know, but there you have it. :D

How big is this likely to get? Just a couple of posts, more than 20? more than 100? more than 1000?

i'm thinking just a couple basic ones.
style information that we need and how to get it.
how to make your layers viewable.
how to make your layers public.
common compiler issues (as jc pointed out in the lj_userdoc post).

stuff like that.

still awaiting more discussion. might want to check out the other comments.

I think I'll wait and see if anyone else chooses to comment, though.
