Adding background to entries/sidebar

How can I accomplish this? Thanks for any help!

I tried using what was listed here and it worked but it repeated the image, using background-repeat:no-repeat; made the whole thing disappear. I'd like the image to show on the lower right of each entry & the bottom right of the sidebar.
