Adding a Header Image

Jan 14, 2006 14:16

This tutorial will work for all users. It will allow you to add a header image to the top of your journal. If you would like to make more complicated changes to the header of your journal, you need to have a paid account and use the Modifying the Page Header tutorial.

Go to the customize page and into the Custom Options. Under the Custom CSS tab, ( Read more... )

Hi! I think this would make a very good addition to s2howto. Would you like to contribute this? s2howto uses a specific format, so if you don't want to bother with it, can I take it, reformat and post? Then support volunteers could reference this tutorial in the responses. (Normally, they can't do this for tutorials in communities like s2smoothsailing without disclaimers).

thank you; thank you; thank you; thank you; thank you.

This is so fabulous. Thank You So Much!!

I love my Smooth Sailing Layout and have been depressed for the last hour because none of the overrides I found would work so I thought I would have to change my journal to 3 columns or generator or something equally dreadful but you saved my lj! Thanks!

and into the Customization Wizard. Under the Layout tab, you'll see the Custom Stylesheet Information option.

Umm, I can't seem to find that when I go to the customize page. Could you tell me where to find the "customization wizard" please?

When you go to the customise page, look for the section titled "Change Individual Settings", and you should see a button there either titled "Customise" or "Edit Customisations". Click that button. That will take you into the customisation wizard.

I tried this to add an image header to this journal and when I paste the code and add my information, the entire layout disappears. The background goes white and everything is just on the left hand side. Any idea why?

the CSS cleaner is probably stripping our your stylesheet because you might have an error in it somewhere. make sure to paste all that code on one line with no line breaks, and make sure you also form your image url correctly. If you're not sure, paste the code in a comment and I'll check it.

This is what I'm pasting and my journal turns all white and everything is on the lefthand side when I put this in the custom stylesheet box. There is no other code in that box except for this one:

.pageheaderblock { background-image: url ("http://i65.photobucket.com/albums/h221/illeanamorgan/illeana.png"); background-position: top center; background-repeat: no-repeat; padding-top: 330px; }
