Well this was my last weekend of relative freedom. I call it relative freedom because (1) no school functions and (2) I spent it working on the bathroom. But I did to go to Cold Stone.
The bathroom work has been slow going. The tile saw Dad rented has been problematic. It doesn't cut porcelain tile very well, so that has meant slowdowns. We think it might be a dull or improper blade, so we're getting a new one tomorrow. This has not been a cheap job. So much for someone's birthday--not that he'd be asking for anything.
Now some pictures.
We just finished the vanity tiling today. The sinks aren't qutie in yet, but not a big deal. Grouting might happen tomorrow.
Here are some more pictures.
This is the vanity area before tiling. In the bottom right you can see where a wall used to be. The lovely floral print wallpaper you see in the background will be coming out… eventually.
This is a shot of the room as of tonight. You an barely see the bottom row of tile ion the shower. Oh, the towel? Well, um, joke anyone? Man, we still have a lot left to do. But at least they let me play with power tools.
Now for everything besides the bathroom job, which might be done in time for Christmas. I have a job interview Tuesday at the university. Yes, a job interview. You know, the kind of thing that you do for certain hours and get paid. Why, you ask. Well it'll be nice to have some extra money, although most of it will get socked away for law school. And it's not much to begin with. Plus, I think I can handle 15 hours a week on top of class. Feeling productive for a change won't be bad either.
I'm applying for a position with the Associated Students of the University of Nevada (ASUN) as a secretary. I don't know why they call it that because it's really a clerking job. I will help prepare agendas and minutes for several boards that sit under the Senate. Not exactly a very exciting job, but it's something that fits. My real reason for applying: I can't stand reading "Senator Smith motioned…." Well not really. But it does bug me. (For the uninitiated in my "Grammar, Parliamentary Procedure and You" course, the proper form is "Senator Smith moved…." A motion is a noun; to move is a verb. Okay, enough of that.) Wish me luck.
Only one week left before school starts up again. Even sooner for me. I'm attending the freshman retreat for the Honors Program to help mold some impressionable freshmen. No, it's really because I'm on the student council and we pretty much have to go. That's all next weekend. Grr. I should probably get back onto a decent sleep schedule sometime before then. No more after-midnight bedtimes.
Thursday I have a New Student Orientation function to attend for Honors and a newsletter to have done by then. Wednesday I'm going shopping with Meghann for supplies for the retreat. I'm sure there are other things that will crop up, along with all of the bathroom work I can squeeze in.
Well that's all for now.
