[paidaccount] Changing permalink text/hiding permalink

Dec 24, 2005 15:31

Paid Accounts Only The following tutorial requires creating and editing a custom theme layer, which in turn requires a paid, permanent, or early adopter account. Please read What are the paid account benefits? and How do I buy a paid account? to learn about the paid account benefits and how to buy a paid account.
This tutorial requires the creation of a theme layer. If you already have a theme layer, you will need to edit it and add the code below. If you do not have a theme layer, you will need to create one by following the instructions in the Theme Layer tutorial.

Some layouts do not allow you to change the permalink text via the Customize Page. If you wish to change the permalink text in these layouts, you will have to create or modify an existing theme layer and add the following code:

set text_permalink = "Link"
Change the text highlighted in orange to whatever you like and compile the layer. You can also remove the text if you wish to hide your permalinks instead. If you have created a new layer you will need to follow the instructions in the Theme Layer tutorial to select your new theme layer for use.

The following layouts support this method of customizing permalink text:
  • A Sturdy Gesture
  • Classic/Clean and Simple
  • Cuteness Attack
  • Generator
  • Opal
  • Smooth Sailing
  • Tranquility II
  • Unearthed

The following layouts do not support this method of customizing permalink text:
  • Bloggish, Component, Dear Diary, Digital Multiplex, Flexible Squres, Haven, Magazine, Nebula, Notepad, Punquin Elegant, Quite Lickable, Tabular Indent, and The Boxer do not support permalinks at all.
  • A Novel Conundrum: date/time serves as the permalink.
  • 3 Column: permalink is an icon.
  • Digital Multiplex and Gradient Strip: entry subject serves as the permalink.
