The previous # and next # links will only display when there are more entries available than can fit on the page. Since you only have 8 entries in your journal you won't see a previous page link yet.

As for your friends page, I see a Previous 20 link at the bottom of http://noetic-heart.livejournal.com/friends and the last entry I can see on the second page is dated December 6th, just under two weeks ago. Your Friends page will only display entries posted during the last two weeks, so everything appears normal there as well.

Thank you for the response.

So I tried looking at the page, still no Previous 20 link. Thinking it might be a browser issue (I'm using Chrome), I tried it in IE, and there it was. However, when I logged in using IE, the link was gone.

I did this in Chrome and then in Firefox, too.

So if I'm not logged in and I go to http://noetic-heart.livejournal.com/friends I see the link, but when I log in, using any of the browsers, the link it gone.

It's too bad, because I like this layout.

The only way that makes sense is if you're filtering your Friends page. That's the only way you should see more entries logged out than when you're logged in.

You can check to see if you're using a Default View group [http://www.livejournal.com/friends/editgroups.bml] and make sure it's spelled exactly "Default View" with a capital D and a capital V (other capitalizations can affect the way the group is displayed on your Friends page).

Also, if you're filtering any communities you belong to so that you only are reading certain tags, or that you don't read certain tags, that will affect the number of posts you see on your Friends page while logged in. Tag filtering will not affect what entries you see while logged out.

GAH! You're a genius! That's it exactly. I do use the Default View and when I added everything to it, there was the link. Fantastic. Thank you!

Now just to get rid of the "previous 20" link at the top of the page, but I know I saw how to do that somewhere. I can find that one again. :-)
